  2. USING Formulas… • Substitute in the values given and solve for the remaining variable. • EX: 1. P = i2r P = 2000, i = 4. Find r. 2. A = ½ bh A = 30, h = 10. Find b. 3. V = 4 πr2 r = 8. Find V. 3

  3. Solving an equation for y • We aren’t really solving, we are rearranging the equation so that one variable (y) is alone on the left. • Use inverse operations to isolate the variable y. The answer is a NEW EQUATION! 1. 6x + 2y = -12 2. 15 = 3y – x 3. 4x + 3y = 20 4. y – 3 = 2 (x + 4) 3
