  2. Carlos Slim • He was born in Mexico City in 1940. • The second most rich person in the World (Fortune)‏ • With a net worth of around U.S. $60 billion through his holdings.

  3. Carlos Slim • His father, Julian, traveled from Lebanon to Mexico in 1902. • He opened a small store in the south of Mexico City. • Through hard work and shrewd investments he became a successful businessman.

  4. Carlos Slim • Slim became an engineer at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Known as UNAM. • He helped his father on his family business until 1965.

  5. Carlos Slim • In 1965 he got married. • In 1966 he established Grupo Carso, whose name combines the first two syllables of Carlos and Soumaya (his wife) and started to grow slowly until 1990.
