Snow Camp 2009 • Where: Lech Valley, Austria • How: Fly & Coach • Organised by Jeka (dedicated Scout/Guide travel firm) • Own chalet • Hire of Skis, boots, sticks, guide, lessons, Return Airport coach transfer • All food provisions for 3 meals a day included. • Catering staff to come in each day to prepare and cook the meals • Local representative service with 24 hour back up. Flights • GOING OUT Thursday 12th Feb 2009 • Dublin (DUB) to Karlsruhe-Baden (FKB) FR1915 • Depart DUB at 12:55 and arrive FKB at 16:00 • COMING BACK – Thursday 19th Feb 2009 • Karlsruhe-Baden (FKB) to Dublin (DUB) FR1916 • Depart FKB at 16:25 and arrive DUB at 17:35 Parents Info Meeting: Snow Camp 09
Going to Airport • Meeting at Slip Hall 9:45am - don’t be late! • Uniform Check, bag check • Leaving Slip Hall at 10:30am • Mini-Bus to Airport/Departures • Group check-in & straight to security/Gate Parents Info Meeting: Snow Camp 09
Check in Baggage • Check in one bag weighing a maximum of 15kgs • Scouts must be able to carry the bag themselves (not just wheels) • Try and come in short of 15kgs if possible. Parents Info Meeting: Snow Camp 09
Carry-on Baggage • One carry-on bag (day bag back pack style) • Max weight 10kgs • Max size 55cm x 40cm x 20cm • Pack PJs, toothbrush/comb, set underwear/socks in Daybag • 2 x packed lunches – don’t use tinfoil! • 1 x empty water bottle • Inhaler if needed • Plastic bag (in case of travel sickness) Parents Info Meeting: Snow Camp 09
Please pack… • Ski-Jacket (winter coat will not do!) • Salopettes (ski trousers) Get ones w. an inner cuff, a zip in the lower leg, and braces. • Ski-gloves (ordinary gloves won’t do for skiing) • Warm hat (ensure it covers the ears) • Neck gaiter (no trailing scarves) • Ski socks (2/3 pairs) (not football socks or hiking socks) • Thermal or base layer – top & bottom (not cotton) • Fleece jumper (thin style to wear under jacket) (for comfort avoid elastic cuff) • Good quality Ski sunglasses or goggles (Sunglasses are often more comfortable for this age group, get a cord to hold them on) • Total block sun cream & stick for lips Parents Info Meeting: Snow Camp 09
APRES-SKI/other stuff • Selection of warm clothes to wear in the evening(we don’t mind if they wear the same clothes more than once!) • Ordinary knitted gloves (can be worn under ski gloves or après-ski) • Boots (Hiking boots. Can wear boots when travelling to save space, be prepared to take them off at airport security!) • Warm Boot Socks, Underwear etc., • Indoor slippers/flip flops • PJs, Wash bag/towel etc. • Sleeping bag liner (preferable) or single duvet cover • Pillow case Parents Info Meeting: Snow Camp 09
Please don’t pack…. • More than 15kgs in check in bag • Electronic game items • Extra money over the limit given • Prescription or over the counter medication (give to Leader) • Hair straighteners/curlers etc., etc. • Anything in day bag prohibited by Airport security • Mobile phones Parents Info Meeting: Snow Camp 09

Expected behaviour • All Scouts are expected to behave well and appropriately. Inappropriate or unsafe behaviour will not be accepted. Scouts must follow the directions of Leaders at all times. • In the event of a serious issue or failure to behave appropriately, Leaders can call parents/guardians and the Scout will return home. Pocket Money • €110 per child max • Of this €50 will go towards Apres Ski activities • Which leaves €10 per day spending money – more than enough for sweets & coke! Parents Info Meeting: Snow Camp 09
Group Policy on Alcohol In Summary • No alcohol permitted on camp, youth or adult • Adult leaders may leave site for a social evening and are ‘off-duty’ • Sufficent leaders will be on-duty at all times • Full policy is attached to your handout. Parents Info Meeting: Snow Camp 09
