  11. Reglasparareconocercognados: Reglacinco • Many English words begin with an “st”, “sp”, or “sc” combination, but Spanish does not allow words to begin with those sound combinations. In many cases, Spanish simply adds an “e” before the word. Other cognate rules may also apply. • estudiante = student • especie = species • escenario = scenery
