Basic Techniques to Define a Successful Presentation • Focus: single, well-defined topic • Know your audience • Limit key points (5 main points, 2 sub points per main) • Real Example for illustration • Pictures are worth 1000 words • Body language / slow down • Plan, plan, plan • If you do not know the answer – say so

  3. Keys to Effective Speaking • Have thoughts in order before talking. • Use “tone of voice” to emphasize the point being made. • Keep off the soap box. • Do not state opinions as facts. • Be flexible.

  4. Keys to Effective Speaking • Repeat when necessary. • Do not discuss personal problems. • Do not do all the talking. • When done with a point, stop talking! • Time management – know your time limit.
