  1. Buying a Car By Ian Buckley Aided by Kelly Blue Book through blatant plagiarism.

  2. 1:Knowing Your Shopping Style • You should consider: • Price • Value • Image • Method • Safety http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3090/3223344300_a375acccb2_z.jpg

  3. 1: Part Two • Look for a good balance between the aforementioned tenets. For example, you might find a cheap car, but it might not be safe or attractive. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3090/3223344300_a375acccb2_z.jpg

  4. 2: Narrow Down Your List • Let your car find you. • Use “Perfect Car Finder.” • Side by Side Comparison http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3090/3223344300_a375acccb2_z.jpg

  5. 2: Part Two • Narrow your search from every car ever made to maybe a few that strike your fancy. That way you’ll have an easier time deciding. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3090/3223344300_a375acccb2_z.jpg

  6. 3: Calculate what you can afford. • Calculate affordability • Loan/trade in • Price New car • Pre-owned car http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/eb/Money_1973.jpg/220px-Money_1973.jpg

  7. 3: Part Two • Think in advance about how much the car will run you. If you don’t, you might not have enough money and everyone in the car dealership will laugh at you. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ky1cMl0oRPc/TzNa-CuqbHI/AAAAAAAAFgk/kzDE-aYhbP4/s1600/no-money.jpg

  8. 4: Research Online • Lots of data for the following: • Safety • Quality • Opinions (Expert and Owner) • Side by side comparison http://ctovision.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/the-internet-a-series-of-tubes-e1302137805665.jpg

  9. 4: Part Two • Many know the internet as a place to watch videos of cats. The internet, however, can also be used to research things, such as cars. http://www.enterprisenews.com/archive/x1381731189/g24400000000000000005a18c830787bf9afe757a78482209c9512b2006.jpg This couple uses the internet to research cars. The guy is hoping the woman won’t see his internet history.

  10. 5: Know When the Price is Right • Look at the following prices: • Invoice price • MSRP • New Car Blue Book Value • Optional Equipment http://www.priceisrightinfo.com/PriceIsRightLogo.gif

  11. 5: Part 2 • Look at a variety of factors to make sure you’re getting the best deal. Yes, Step 5 is pretty similar to Step 3. Here’s a graph: http://www1.eere.energy.gov/vehiclesandfuels/images/facts/fotw541.jpg

  12. 6: Leasing V. Buying

  13. 6: Part Two • Like most cases of when you have two options, one option is not always the clear-cut superior. That’s why you have to look at the pros and cons of what works for you. http://www.allrmc.com/images/pros_cons.gif

  14. 7: Financing • Warranties • Insurance • The like. http://www.chamberlingranite.com/Portals/0/Products/Countertops/warranty1.gif

  15. 7: Part Two • Make sure you know what you’re getting into when you sign on for warranties and insurance, or those fellas at the dealership will rip you off.

  16. 8: Trade-ins • Consider selling your car: • • Advertise online with for free on Craigslist. • • Advertise online via a paid listing on eBay Motors. • • Advertise in local newspapers or printed selling guides for a more local audience. • • Place a Kelley Blue Book printed For Sale sign in the vehicle's window and park it in a highly visible area (see sample). Start by finding your vehicle's Private Party value, then click "Print For Sale Sign" when the final pricing report is displayed.

  17. 8: Part Two • Selling in your old vehicle can make you some sweet cheddar. Make sure you’re getting the best deal, though. That might mean not selling to the dealership.

  18. 9: Buying Options • Options for buying include: • Direct buy sites. • Dealer Referral Buying Sites • Manufacturer sites

  19. 9: Part Two • There are a variety of sites on the ol’ interwebs that can help you make your decision. This step is a little redundant, but whatever.

  20. 10: The Test Drive • Things to consider for the test drive: • Tires • Comfort • Noise • Acceleration/Braking • Handling

  21. 10: Part Two • The test-drive is the ultimate way to ascertain that the dealer isn’t pulling a fast one on you. Make sure you check the crap out of that car.

  22. My dream car: • This bad boy right here. I ran out of time, so I can’t really do the other stuff. God bless America.
