Significance of the study • Gold loans are now widely recognized as acceptable means of raising funds for meeting urgent requirements by all segments of society. • More and more people are now using such loans, whose tenures are typically up to three or six months • Gold loans constitute a significant portion of the loan portfolio of Co operative banks

  3. Statement of the Problem • Gold loans are the least risky and most performing assets of the co operative banks in our present banking environment. • This study is to examine whether gold loans are performing well or not.

  4. Objectives of the study • To analyze the growth of loan on gold sanctioned by Karulai Co operative Bank during the latst five year period 2005-2010 • To evaluate the performance of gold loans sanctioned by the bank during the above period • To study the various purposes for which gold loans have been granted during the above period.

  5. Methodology • The study is based on secondary data • The study covers only Karulai Branch of the Karulai Co operative Bank. • Data relating to the gold loan sanctioned during the last five year period ie 2004-05 to 2009-10 will be collected • Data will be gathered from the Balance sheet, profit and loss account and other relevant reports of the bank.
