  2. National Healthcare Facilities and Engineering Week • From October 22-28,2006 ASHE celebrates National Healthcare Facilities & Engineering Week. PROMOTE YOURSELF, RECOGNIZE YOUR STAFF, and GET THE WORD OUT about your mission and successes!

  3. New 2006 Guidelines for Construction • 2006 AIA Guidelines for Design & Construction of Hospital and Health Care Facilities has been published (available through ASHE). The state of PA has adopted these guidelines as a regulatory baseline. Beginning February 3, 2007, the 2006 edition will be the only baseline; there is a transition period until this time.

  4. JCAHO Standards Improvement Initiative • JCAHO has launched an initiative to eliminate non-essential standards & ensure remaining standards are clear and relevant. The initiative will involve extensive communication with health care organizations to gain their perspectives. The improvements will be targeted to go into effect January 2009 for various sites.

  5. ASHE Energy Efficiency Commitment (E2C) supports EPA goals to pursue energy efficiency and reduce energy consumption by 10% or more. ASHE Healthcare Construction Certificate Program. East Coast programs: October 26-27 Pittsburgh, and November 16-17 Nashville. Miscellaneous
