  1. Rat Dissection Tuesday – Introduction, Anatomical Terms, External Features, begin Digestive System Thursday – Digestive, Respiratory, Circulatory, & Urogenital Systems

Lab Groups • Groups of three: • One person dissecting – you can buy TWO gloves • One person reading directions & referring to the lab manual (please keep it clean!) • One person drawing & labeling the structures (these will be collected on the last day of dissection) • You are responsible for ALL information, no matter what job you have • Know both male & female structures • Look at other rats – they are all a little different

General Dissection Hints • Gloves – I have some, 10 cents each – DO NOT WASTE THEM! • Tools (1 per group): • Scalpel • Blunt Probe • Scissors – more useful than you think • Forceps • Line your dissecting tray with paper towels • Follow directions in lab book – careful not to destroy structures • Storing your rat: • Make sure your plastic bag is clearly labeled!! (names & class) • Wrap the rat in wet paper towels • Place the rat in bag & tightly close bag with rubber band • Put bag in bucket • Sinks must be clean before anyone leaves
