Raising the Participation Age (RPA) Young people are required to stay in education and training until the end of the academic year in which they turn 17. From Summer 2015 the age limit will be raised to their 18 th birthday. Options post 16 include:

  1. Raising the Participation Age (RPA) Young people are requiredto stay in education and training until the end of the academic year in which they turn 17. From Summer 2015 the age limit will be raised to their 18th birthday. Options post 16 include: ►Remaining in full-time education in school, at college or through home education ►Choosing a work-based learning option, such as a Traineeship or an Apprenticeship ►Being in part-time education or training if the young person is employed, self-employed or volunteering for at least 20 hours per week.
