Homework: Vocabulary • Daily Rubric: 4 – I fully understand the learning target and I am ready to move on • 3 – I feel like I have a good understanding of the learning target but I need to cover it a little more • 2 – I feel kind of lost on the learning target and I need a lot of review before I can move on • 1 – I am completely lost and feel like I need to completely cover this learning target over

ActivityLearning Target: (C.4.3) IWBAT describe examples of how the U.S. has dealt with international conflicts Notes: • In 1990, the United States reacts to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait by starting Operation Desert Shield which eventually led to Operation Desert Storm, aka the first Iraq War. • Terrorist attacks led the United States to reshape its foreign policy. • The war on drugs has been an important part of US-Latin American relations since the 1970s. • The US placed an embargo against Cuba because the country has a communist government. • The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon caused the United States to change its foreign policy to fight terrorism. • The Northern Alliance helped the US and its allies fight against the Taliban. • In the mid-1990s, the United States and NATO worked to promote stability in eastern Europe after discovering the genocide initiated in Bosnia.
