  4. Home care services are defined as: • Practical services which assist the client to function as independently as possible and/or continue to live in their own homes, e.g. • Routine household tasks within or outside the home (basic housework, shopping, laundry, paying bills) • Personal care of the client; as defined in schedule 1 of the Community Care & Health Act 2002. • Respite care in support of the client’s regular carers, e.g Crossroads Care Attendance Schemes funded by the Local Authority. • Overnight, live-in and 24 hour services • Home care provided to clients living in sheltered housing or supported accommodation Source: 2011/12 H1 guidance notes

  5. The key local outcomes delivered through Housing Support services are: • economic well-being including maximising benefits and reducing individual debt; • opportunities to be an active member of the local community by offering support and advice as well as sign posting to suitable agencies and networks who can offer long term support in this area; • support, advice and signposting to ensure the client keeps well both physically and mentally; • support to maintain a tenancy and avoid eviction; • empower individuals and develop confidence and independence. 6. Overlap between services? • Some Community Support services delivered by home care workers • “mainly domestic care with a focus on rehabilitation” • Approximately £1m per year paid from Housing Support budget to Home Care to cover this work • Can this be counted as Domestic Care in the H1 return? • Or, should Housing Support be reported separately?
