Exploring Literary Elements and Creative Expression in Poetry

In this lesson plan, students engage with various literary concepts and techniques, including connotation, denotation, imagery, and sonnet structure. Activities include watching a thought-provoking video clip, reflecting on personal verses, and analyzing Emily Dickinson's poem "I Felt a Funeral, in My Brain." Additionally, students will experiment with Blackout Poetry, a creative form of expression, following a presentation on the subject. By the end of the week, students will be prepared for a poetry quiz and will have completed their presentations, exploring the depth and beauty of poetry.
