We use singular and plural subjects in English. Singular: boy Plural: boys • Our present tense verbs will need to agree with our subjects. • The boyLIKES pizza. • The boysLIKE pizza. • We add an -s to the end of the verb to match the subject.
The Verb –to be in Present Tense 1st • We are happy. • They are good. • You are smart. 1st • I am happy. • You are funny. • He is good. • She is pretty. • It is hot. 2nd 3rd 3rd NOTE: The only time you add an –s to the end of the verb is when you use the third person singular!
