What’s New in Dragon 12 New for Professional/Legal Editions Recognition Log: Administrators can obtain a recognition log file for each end-user, to easily and quickly gather rich, objective usage information which can be used to give users targeted advice and measure return on investment. Transcription, Streamlined: Dragon’s Auto-Transcribe Folder Agent (ATFA) manages the flow of transcribed text and synchronized audio of [digital] [voice] recordings to streamline third-party review and correction. In version 12, ATFA: Supports .DOC and .RTF as output formats, in addition to .TXT. Runs a script (such as an email notification) when a transcription is complete Note: The “Roaming” configuration allows dictation and [third-party] correction from different network locations and computing devices while ensuring centralized management of master user profiles.

Remote Desktop Connection: Use Dragon Without Installing It Locally. Dragon now supports remote use on a computer running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 Ultimate. With Microsoft’s free Remote Desktop Connection software (formerly called Terminal Services Client), you can use Dragon from a local Windows computer on which Dragon itself is not installed.

Browser Extension for Rich Internet Applications Gmail & Hotmail In these RIAs, the plugin adds to the browser’s existing functionality: Commands for key actions: Click Inbox, Go to Subject… See small Nuance graphic next to covered items. To see the command list, say “show site commands” (see top of IE/FF Sidebar) Nuance can update these lists post 12.0 through its server Note: feature doesn’t include command for sending Full Text Control: dictate as you normally do (even in Chrome and Firefox)

Browser Extension for Gmail & Hotmail (cont.) “Say What You See” and the graphic: A small graphic marks items that can be activated with the principle “click <name>” e.g. “click inbox” and “click drafts”. Navigate a new mail’s fields in any order (“go to body,” “go to subject”…) as opposed to tabbing from one field to the next.
34. Browser Extension for Gmail & Hotmail – important notes One may need to close and re-open the browser once after installing Dragon 12. Browser may present a message (full screen or not) asking for authorization. Internet Explorer 9 can be installed on Windows Vista and Windows 7, but not on XP.  If you install Internet Explorer 9 after installing Dragon 12, you must install Dragon files needed to use this feature in Internet Explorer 9 (double-click setup.exe, choose Repair).

App settings “stick”
37. Enhanced Bluetooth Microphone Support Premium editions and above Takes advantage of 16 kHz for higher accuracy than 8 kHz Skipping General Training is allowed. Plantronics “Calisto II” BT-300 (small USB dongle) First plug the dongle into your PC’s USB port, then create a profile or add a source: list offered will include Enhanced Bluetooth* If more than one “sound device” is detected, “Plantronics BT300” will be listed. Calisto II’s User Guide posted on website alongside DNS User Guide.

50. Smart Format Rules In DNS12, users don’t need to “dig” in the UI. Before, frustration trying to teach DNS their preferred formats, such as abbreviations (alternate written forms), units… Users don’t know how or can’t bother. Auto-Formatting dlg & Word Properties dlg can feel overwhelming (+ WP dlg is “buried” in Voc Editor.) Extends value of correcting, avoids repeated format errors
51. Smart Format Rules (cont.) After a format-related correction, DNS presents the Smart Format Rules box – then the user can: Just keep dictating (or say “cancel”), or Choose a rule: say “choose n”. (Takes effect immediately; does not retroactively change previous instances in the dictation.) Users can still change settings proactively in Auto-Formatting dlg and Word Properties dlg. What’s enabled there determines whether the SFR box will be triggered and what rules it will offer. SFR helps user get to a point where they have all the settings they typically want (users can always make exceptions in their dictations). If settings are already “curated”, the SFR box will rarely/never appear. Note Also appears if correction was done by overtyping in the document. Can be turned off from Correction tab of Options dlg.

54. DNS reaches out about optimization Proactive, so users don’t have to remember. Analysis of documents and/or local sent emails if not done recently (so DNS is “up to date” on user’s work). Reminder can be turned off for email separately. “Save profile? Yes No” message may include checkbox for “maintenance” (quick, since just LMO).
