Math 7: Problem Solving & Decimal Numbers Curriculum

This curriculum covers problem solving, decimal numbers, integers, order of operations, exponents, factors, fractions, equations, inequalities, ratio, rate, proportion, percents, probability, geometry, measurement, and data analysis. Daily materials include a binder, homework packets, tests/quizzes, notebooks, pencils, textbook, assignment book, markers, and portfolio. Homework, quizzes, tests, and classwork are graded, and tools like PIV, email, and teacher resources are available for communication and extra help.   1. Welcome! Math 7 (Period 4,7,8) 6th Grade-Team A Miss Kelley Peck Room 205

Curriculum • Problem solving (all year long) • Decimal Numbers • Integers • Order of Operations & Properties • Exponents, Factors, & Fractions • Fraction Operations • Equations & Inequalities • Ratio, Rate, & Proportion • Percents • Probability • Geometry (includes self-study vocab review) • Measurement • Data Analysis

Daily Materials • 1/1.5 inch Binder with dividers • Homework-packets, Tests/Quizzes, miniquizzes/classwork/notes • Notebook (great for lesson help!) • Pencils • Colored Pen/Pencil (correcting/vocabulary) • Textbook • Pearson/Prentice Hall Mathematics Course 2 • Assignment book • Dry Erase Markers/Eraser • Classroom Portfolio (may be checked-out)

  4. Homework • Homework is given daily! • Based on 100 points per quarter • Missing/incomplete/etc = -5 points • Completed/turned in late = +3 points • Reviewed in class and self-corrected with colored pencil/pen/marker • Problems should be worked out NEATLY, always in pencil • Homework can help or hurt final quarterly grade

  5. Grading System-Points • Homework nightly • 100 points per quarter • Quizzes 1-2/unit • 20-45 points each • Tests 1/unit • 50-70 points each • Other • Classwork/Project/Singapore/Miniquizzes • varies

  6. Tools • PIV – updated about 1/week on Fridays • I try to enter tests & quizzes immediately • Email me if you’re unsure! • Teacher Page – resources & links • tesd.net/peck • Homework Page – updated each Monday with current week’s assignments • Late work is always accepted • ADVISORY!
