  2. General Observations • Overall the standard improved considerably from the January series. • Some candidates did not answer the required number of questions - still rubric errors. • Weaker candidates presented pre-prepared generic answers. • A feature this year was poor spelling which went beyond legal terminology.

  3. General Observations • Some candidates ignored the stimulus material provided in LA2. • Candidates performed better in LA1 than LA2. • There are ongoing problems with some aspects of the LA2 specification e.g. European Law. • General lack of legal authority and supporting case citation.

  4. Tackling the Specification • The ability to answer the question directly is very significant. • Essay writing skills will need to be emphasised. • Candidates must read each question carefully before choosing. • Both parts of questions MUST be attempted.

  5. Specific Weaknesses • Mis-reading of questions - read the questions carefully, noting commands. • Clear understanding of command words is essential and some candidates failed to fulfil the assessment criteria because they failed to respond to the command words.

  6. Specific Weaknesses • Time allocation; still evidence of over and underwriting. • Not defining key terms. • Repetition. • Dated cases / lacking in legal authority. • Lack of understanding of European Law
