  3. In Lithuania, from November 30 to December 25 there is ADVENT. It's time when people try to be peaceful and remember the real spirit of Christmas.

  4. Christmas Eve In Lithuania Christmas Eve dinner is more important than Christmas dinner. Our traditional Christmas Eve meal are Christmas Evebiscuits.

TRADITIONAL CHRISTMASEVE MEALSWe have 12 dishes on the table • Christmas Evewafer •    Christmas Eve biscuits with poppy milk •    Cranberry pap •    Herring with dried mushrooms •    Herring with raisins •    Pies with mushrooms •    Fried fish •    Beetroot and bean salad •    Nuts, dried apples

  6. Preparation for Christmas Eve is associated with purity and light. Such preparation for the holidays takes all day. Food is being prepared not only for the special dinner but also for the first day of Christmas. People are fasting and abstain from meat, so none of the 12 meals for the Christmas Eve dinner can contain meat.

  13. It is typical to exchange presents on Christmas day. Children normally find them under the Christmas tree and believe that they were brought by Father Christmas.
