  1. Provision of complex services on HIV/AIDS in Western Ukraine: Ivano-Frankivsk Charitable Christian Foundation “Solidarity”

  2. Our Objectives • The main objective of our organization is provision of complex services on HIV/AIDS to clients according to their needs (in the framework of 3-level prevention model); • Provision of extended spectrum of services via feedback from target audiences.

  3. Main directions of work • Primary prevention (Western Ukrainian Resource Centre) • Secondary prevention. Harm reduction • Prevention in penitentiary system • Daily Center for IDUs • Care and support to PLHA who take ART • VCT • Advocacy • Rehabilitation Center • Community Center for IDUs

Primary Prevention(Western Ukrainian Resource Centre) Training and education program for specialists Referral to secondary prevention Engaging clients to prevention programs via Mass Media channels, technical assistanceof 10 NGOs in 8 regions of Western Ukraine, distribution of information materials, trainings

  5. Primary prevention. Key results • 25 information and education trainings conducted for 379 specialists (NGO, education, Mass Mediaetc.); • Teachers trained on the basis of RC in life skills based education work in 47 schools of Ivano-Frankivsk oblast; • 8 information materials on HIV/AIDS were published and disseminated; • Hotline functions on the basis of RC.

  6. Secondary Prevention CF“Solidarity” conducts prevention work among IDUs, SWs, MSM, prisoners using following approaches: • Outreach workers distribute sterile syringes, condoms, disinfectants etc. • Clients are motivated to use secondary prevention services regularly because of: а) self-help group; б) engaging volunteers from target groups and conducting secondary exchange; в) conducting preventive education activities with clients; г) self-organizing clients in the course of their volunteering in community center for vulnerable groups. • Referral to rehabilitation programs.

  7. Harm Reduction We are developing dialogue with project clients mobilizing their efforts: • via engaging to social work IDUs, representatives of vulnerable groups – 100 % of social workers of CF “Solidarity”; • motivating clients to volunteering. Individual approach to clients: • conducting monthly recreation activities to unite and motivate clients to volunteering (karaoke parties, picnics, video screening); • providing humanitarian aid to clients (clothes, food); • Support and development of basic life skills: work with PC, registering documents, basic legal education, support of organizing skills.

  8. Main results of work (during the last quarter) • Individual work conducted with each client via peer consultations (1456 clients (IDUs, SWs, MSM, prisoners) covered); • Individual prevention facilities distributed (51120 syringes, 2926 condoms, 22516 disinfectants) among: IDUs, SWs, MSM, prisoners; • Provided consultations by qualified specialists to 154 IDUs, SWs, MSM, prisoners; • 7 trainings on HIV/AIDS/STI prevention conducted for 40 service providers; • Conducted 18 prevention trainings for 184 clients. • 106 clients engaged into self-help group.

  9. In the framework of innovative directions of work Community Center: а) motivating clients to go through rehabilitation during participation in daily center; б) conducting individual program of rehabilitation; в) supporting and motivating clients to go through resocialization via getting basic life skills. Rehabilitation Center: а) referral from prevention project to rehabilitation; б) setting up effective rehabilitation program; в) resocialization of clients on the basis of Rehabilitation Center providing consultations considering employment opportunities.
