  1. Importance of Fire Restoration Restoration of surfaces that have been damaged by fires is a very technical practice, requiring expert skills. What you do not know is that the process of fire restoration does not just end at the removal of carbon from the surface. During the process of combustion, an acid by-product is usually produced, which continues to attack surfaces and particularly metal surfaces if left un-neutralized. It is not enough to just rinse with water. This acid must be neutralized chemically in order to ensure that the building is purged of any future corrosion problems or any unpleasant smoky smells as a residue result of the fire. Chemical neutralization process For starters, when you make enquiries for fire restoration services, the team must analyze the fire site in order to determine the exact nature of the fire - chemical, electrical etc - and if possible narrow down to the actual causative agents to determine the exact elements involved in the incineration equation. Once determined, appropriate chemical products will be applied according to the individual requirements in order to neutralize the entire building and prevent residual acid corrosion over time. Failure may result in complete corrosion of roof trusses as well as other structural components. Chemical neutralization is the best method applicable for the removal of acid and carbon stains. The residue substrate will determine the products to be applied. Once neutralization has occurred, the resultant substrate can now be rinsed out using water under high pressure.

  2. Removal of odors Odors result when smoke from a fire finds its way into the building's cavity walls. These odors can be suppressed using specialized masking agents which are applied, removing the offensive smoky odor. Removal of diesel soot and canopy cleaning Office buildings, service stations and retail stores with canopies require cleaning due to the buildup of dust and exhaust fumes from vehicles. The same is true of light boxes, which also need to be clean both internally and externally in order to facilitate maximum light omission. Canopy pollution is not only unsightly, it can also result in damage of colour-bond cladding and paint jobs in the passage of time due to corrosion. Cleaning on a regular basis will help to extend the lifespan of the canopy. The cleaning process is accomplished by chemical means much like the acid neutralization carried out during fire damage restoration. Once neutralized, the canopy is cleaned using long lances from the ground. Light boxes are cleaned by use of cherry pickers and scaffolding to access them. Water used during the cleaning process can be harnessed, purified and recycled by pouring onto garden beds. There are many online resources available to know more, but experts guidance is always the best option to know about fire restoration services.
