Weakness in the rupee and lingering trade tensions between the US and China also dented market sentiment. Markets started the session on a flat note before witnessing heavy selling pressure in the second half of the session, Nifty fell 82.30 points to 10,589.10 while the Nifty Midcap index dropped nearly 2 percent on weak market breadth. Nifty breaks its important support of 10650 and now bear have the upper hand.
