  2. Abbreviations • LL=Leadership Laboratory • AE=Aerospace Education • ML=Moral Leadership • SDA=Staff Duty Analysis Report • CPFT=Cadet Program Fitness Test

  3. Cadet BasicC/Bsc • All young men and women who enter the Cadet Program start at the grade of Cadet Airman Basic. C/Bsc has no corresponding grade or ribbon. Cadets who demonstrate Leadership Abilities, dedication to Aerospace Education, Physical Training (PT), and posses sound moral character may progress to gain grade and rank.

  4. Cadet AirmanC/Amn • Must score 90 points on CPFT, pass LL 1, attend ML, and attend a unit activity. Then you will earn the Curry Achievement Ribbon and earn the grade of C/Amn.

  5. Cadet Airman First ClassC/A1C • Must score 96 points on CPFT, pass LL 2, pass any AE chapter, attend ML, and attend a unit activity. Then you will earn the Arnold Achievement Ribbon and the grade of C/A1C.

  6. Cadet Senior AirmanC/Sra • Must score 111 points on CPFT, pass LL 3, pass a AE chapter, attend ML, and attend a unit activity. Then you will earn the Wright Brothers Achievement Ribbon and the grade of C/Sra.

  7. Cadet Staff SergeantC/Ssgt • Must score 126 points on CPFT, pass LL 4, pass a AE chapter, attend ML, and attend a unit activity. Then you will earn the Lindbergh Achievement Ribbon and the grade of C/Ssgt.

  8. Cadet Technical SergeantC/Tsgt • Must score 141 on CPFT, pass LL 5, pass a AE chapter, attend ML, and attend a unit activity. Then you will earn the Rickenback Achievement Ribbon and the grade of C/Tsgt.

  9. Cadet Master SergeantC/Msgt • Must score 171 and 178 points on CPFT, pass two AE chapters, attend two ML, and attend two unit activities. Then you will earn the Doolittle and Gadded Achievement Ribbons and the grade of C/Msgt.

  10. Cadet Second LieutenantC/2Lt • Must attend and encampment, pass comprehensive test, and be ML recorder and discussion leader. Then you will earn the Mitchell Award Ribbon and the grade of C/2Lt.

  11. Cadet First LieutenantC/1Lt • Must score 201 points on CPFT, attend ML, pass the AE and LL tests, attend a unit activity, write SDA, and be AE mentor. Then you will earn the grade of C/2Lt.

  12. Cadet CaptainC/Capt • Must score 216 points on CPFT, attend ML, pass AE and LL tests, write SDA, be AE mentor, must hold officer level staff position, attend a unit activity, and pass comprehensive test. Then you will earn the Earhart Award Ribbon and the grade of C/Capt.

  13. Cadet MajorC/Maj • Must score 246 points on CPFT, pass the AE and LL tests, write SDA, attend ML, attend a unit activity, and be an AE instructor. Then you will earn the grade of C/Maj.

  14. Cadet Lieutenant ColonelC/LtC • Must score 291 points on CPFT, pass AE and LL tests, write SDA, be AE instructor, attend a unit activity, hold officer level position, be ML discussion leader twice, attend COS, and do speechwriting assignment. Then you will earn the Eaker Award and the grade of C/LtC.

  15. Cadet ColonelC/Col • Must score 300 on CPFT, attend ML, pass AE and LL tests, be AE instructor, write SDA, attend unit activities, and pass comprehensive test. Then you will earn the Spaatz Award and the grade of C/Col.

  16. New Ranks • Cadet Senior Master Sergeant • Cadet Chief Master Sergeant • A diamond above the chevrons denotes the rank of First Sergeant(C/1sg). Ideally only Sergeants, or Non-Commissioned Officer(NCO’s), may hold the rank of First Sergeant.
