    2. BUNKERS - AN OLD TERM THAT ORIGINATED WITH COAL AND WOOD FIRED PROPULSION SYSTEMS. NOW USED GENERICALLY FOR ALL TYPES OF LIQUID PROPULSION FUELS USED BY SHIPS. BUNKER STEM - AN ORDER PLACE TO A SUPPLIER FOR THE PURCHASE AND DELIVERY OF FUEL. BUNKERING PLANS ARE IMPORTANT TO ENSURE THAT THE SHIP HAS THE ABILITY TO PROSECUTE THE VOYAGE IN THE MOST EFFICIENT, SAFE MANNER. THIS IS THE FIRST SOURCE OF FUEL. DESC CONTRACT : DESC IS THE PURCHASER OF ALL PETROLEUM PRODUCTS FOR DoD AND MAINTAINS SUPPLY CONTRACTS IN SELECTED PORTS WHERE THERE IS NO STORAGE. US NAVY (INCLUDING MSC): USN SOMETIMES HAS CONTRACTS IN PORTS THAT ARE NOT COVERED BY DESC CONTRACT COMMERCIAL SOURCES: MOST PORTS HAVE AN AVAILABLE SUPPLY OR ACCESS TO COMMON MARINE FUELS.
