We fight pretty hard as much as possible to stick to native plants in the bioretentions when possible, primarily because they are connected to the streams (via the overflow inlets) so we don't want to spread non-native plants out to the streams, if possible. Susan, Afie was asking about fall flowering plants that could work in the wet swale and I suggested the following: Aster novae-angliae 'Purple Dome' New England aster Solidagograminifolia Grass-leaved goldenrod We can consider other natives for spring--luckily the large clumps of Iris will flower then, but if more is desired we can work with Laura to grow a few things or purchase a few other plants.
