WHAT IS TAA? • Trade Adjustment Assistance Helps Individuals Who Have Become Unemployed As A Result Of Competition From Foreign Trade • Program Goals: • Encourage The Rapid Reemployment Of TAA-Eligible Individuals • Provide Training And Income Support Where Necessary For A Worker To Achieve Reemployment • Assist Individuals To Obtain Reemployment In Fields Where They Are Likely To Remain Employed And Earn Wages Comparable To Their Prior Jobs

TAPR / WISPR • WISPR Is Replacing The Current TAPR • All Fields Will Carry Over To WISPR • Current Issues: • People Who Receive ATAA Should Be Tracked, Should Not Have Received Training, Should Be Over 50 Years Old (30 Year Old Is Not Eligible) • DOB: People Should Not Be In The Program Who Are 2 Years Old Or Have Not Been Born Yet • Issued A Waiver And Receive TRA Need To Be Tracked

Participation In ATAA Allows Older Workers, For Whom Retraining May Not Be Appropriate, To Accept Reemployment At A Lower Wage And Receive A Wage Subsidy
