  2. WHO IS A TAILOR? Tailor is a craftsman who makes, repairs and adjusts clothes. His work is connected with sewing, using a needle or a sewing machine. A tailor prepares clothes for each clientindividually. He creates clothes from a template to a ready product.

  3. THE MOST POPULAR CLOTHES MADE BY TAILORS INCLUDE: • wedding dresses • suits • coats • trousers • skirts

  4. ADVANTAGES OF BEING A TAILOR • jobthat develops passion • creative work (tailor is an artist) • each order is different, tailorscreate different clothes in different styles • tailorswork with people • occupationwhich is nota "rat race" • tailorscan have theirown workshops, theywork for themselves

  5. DISADVANTAGES OF BEING A TAILOR • tailorscan hurt theirfingers with a needle or scissors • theycan loose your sight working all the time on sewing • in general,it's not a well-paid profession • it can be boring to work ina factory

  6. PAST AND PRESENT In the past tailors were well-paid and appreciated. Those who created clothes for individual clients were trendsetters. They showed new fashion. Nowadays tailorsareless appreciated because of cheap clothes from Chinaand Bangladesh. Theseclothes are also made by tailors but it's mass production. The disadvantageof theseclothes is that they are made from poor materials and they are all the same. Most people buy them because they are cheap. Hopefully it will change. Nowadays people are looking for individual style. They are aware of fashion trends. They want to be original. That's why tailors are needed. People will order their clothes from good tailors.

  7. POLISH TAILOR Jerzy Turbasais a famous Polish tailor. He creates clothes for presidents and artists. He works in Cracowina workshop that was founded in 1946. It's very prestigious to have clothes done by him. It's quite expensive at the same time. More details can be found there: www.turbasa.pl

  8. HOW TO BE A TAILOR? Young people can become tailors after finishing vocational school. During their education they are told how to sew, create fashion and how business works. They study about materials as well. After finishing school they need to pass an exam. When they pass it successfully they get a title: tailor. Tailors should take part in extra courses all lifetime to see new methods and current fashion.

  9. MY OPINION In my opinion tailor is a profession that is disappearingnowadays. It's because of cheap clothes from Asia. I have noticed that a lot oftailors from my neighborhood closedtheir workshops. But I think that it's going to change in a while. People are more aware of good clothes. They want to have their individual style. They also see the exploitation of Asian workers. They want to give a job for Polish people, too. It's really important for thelocal business to work successfully. To sum up, people will ask tailors for clothes made especially for them more and more. It's more expensive but their work is better. Clothes are adjusted and of better quality. Handmade individual clothes are popular nowadays.
