What triggered the conflict between Russia and Japan? • Tsar Nicholas II declared war on Japan they both were imperialist powers and also they were fighting for Korea. • Japan was the first to strike an attack. • The conflict was that Japan attack and destroy the warship. • japan wanted to control Korea and Manchuria. • Japan was running out of men and money at the same time and they didn’t want Russia to find out that main fact.

How was it an imperial act? • It was important because it was a shortcut between Atlantic ocean and pacific ocean. • And it also they reduce travel time for commercial and military ships. • Made it easy to take over a country ( ex: Panama) • The United States signed a treaty that pay Panama 10 million an also a annual rent for 250,000 for a land across Panama call the canal zone. • This payment started in 1913. • The united states help panama over throw there ruler, and also helped organize a Panamanian rebellion against Colombia. • On November 3 1903 about a dozen US warships went when Panama declared independence.

  4. What is Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine? • If we don’t get what we want we can send our military to Latin America and get what we want from them.
