  1. Sunday is the Feast of Pentecost, fifty days after Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday the gift of the Holy Spirit came to the apostles. After Jesus had ascended into heaven, the disciples felt lost, alone and afraid. Pentecost reminds us that although Jesus is now in heaven, he is very close to us and with us always through the power of the Holy Spirit.   2. A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 'When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.'

The Holy Spirit helps us to grow in many ways, we are given 7 special gifts and 9 things that we call “Fruits of the Holy Spirit” that help us to grow closer to God and to care for each other better The 9 fruits are on the next slide. Spend a minute looking at them quietly and then decide which word you are drawn to most. Throughout today remember this word and think about how you can live out the meaning of this word with others by your words and your actions.

  4. Lord Jesus , Let us praythat the flame of the Spirit will descent upon us. Lord Jesus fifty days have celebrated of Easter have shown us the fullness of your love.See your people gathered in prayer, ready to receive the Spirit's flame. May it come to rest in our hearts and help us to use our gifts for the good of others Amen
