Presentation - Schedule • Presentation Rehearsal • Sign up for 1-hr slot (signup sheet on whiteboard in 2009MEL) • Confirm time with faculty advisor and TA • Make sure you do not double book either • Final Presentation • schedule is on ‘Calendar’ of website
Final Report - Schedule • Deadline: Tuesday after final presentation (i.e. finals week) by 5pm • Upload Final report to website • Deliver two (2) bound printed copies of the final report to Robin in 154MEB • One copy will be sent to client, other graded and kept by department • Affix CDs to inside of each containing: • All reports and presentation slides from the semester • CAD models, drawings, data sets, test results, simulation models, …
Peer & Course Evaluations • Deadline – same as final report (Tuesday by 5pm) • Peer Evaluation forms • On line completion • Peer evaluation form not used just as basis for differential grading • Assess how well teams “worked” • Assess team-assignment process • Course Evaluation forms • On line completion • Feedback on project, faculty advisor, and sponsor etc.
Presentation Rehearsal • Come prepared • You should already have rehearsed • This is graded! • Bring presentation and setup before start time • Bring hard copies of slides for faculty advisor and TA to mark up if desired
Presentation Rehearsal (cont.) • Overall organization and emphasis • Not chronological • Emphasize results from 16-week effort • Organization, emphasis, results will be unique for each group • Develop prototype? Software? Improved process? … • Discuss alternatives and why final solution was chosen
Final Presentation • Incorporate comments from rehearsal, as appropriate • Your sponsor will likely be present so recognize them and thank them for their contribution and support • Plan for 20 – 25 min for presentation • 5 – 10 min for Q&A
Final Presentation (cont.) • Practice! (again after dress rehearsal) • Dress: jackets and ties (i.e., more formal than for earlier presentations) • It should be a fluid professional presentation
Final Report - Length • 20 – 30 pages maximum for text body (Abstract – Conclusions) • 1.5 spaced, 12 point font, 1” margins • Put details in appendices • For executives, shorter is better • No time to read excessively long, detailed reports • Should be detailed enough to be reproducible • Using your report, appendices, list of references
Final Report - Format • Cover sheet • Title • Prepared for: (name of client, firm, address) • Prepared by: (team-member names, MIE Dept., UIUC) • Date • Table of Contents • Abstract or Executive Summary (< 1 page) • Introduction
