  7. Work group on Bow Spring Centralizers (SC-10D) Jan 18-22, 2016: Winter Meeting – Austin, Tx Work Group Status Last met as a WG on Oct 1st, 2015 to further the document: Minutes of the meeting circulated to work group members (accept ?) Highlights included adjustments to definitions: Stop collar, holding device, holding force – changes aimed at allowing a stop collar to be defined as a holding device if it is integral to a centralizer design improving consistency between the 3 definitions for both applications that the specification now covers. Semi-rigid centralizer – change addressed bow spring instead of rigid as a subclass. Also reworded to include something about providing restoring force in certain situations while also being rigid in others. Rigid centralizer – change addressed fact that some designs do not utilize bows but rather solid blades (centralizer designed not to flex).

  8. Work group on Bow Spring Centralizers (SC-10D) Jan 18-22, 2016: Winter Meeting – Austin, Tx Highlights of last meeting, continued: Changed terminology from Under-Reamed Centralizer to Under-Reamed Application to eliminate potential confusion. Decided that there would be no need for a required starting force in the Under-Reamed section since it would be greater in the previous restriction. Decided on Pass/Fail direction for performance values rather than only meeting testing protocol for auditing reasons. A proposed re-wording of section 4, Establishing Centralizer Initial Test and a procedure for determining when and how to retest was received in the last few weeks. Review proposed Section 4:

  12. Work group on Bow Spring Centralizers (SC-10D) Jan 18-22, 2016: Winter Meeting – Austin, Tx Highlights of last meeting, continued: Gefei Liu provided additional insight as to how published curves for centralizer performance might be used in modeling programs Multiple data points would improve accuracy of model. Multiple open holes would improve even more. More discussion and possible testing is needed to decide final published format of curves

  13. Work group on Bow Spring Centralizers (SC-10D) Jan 18-22, 2016: Winter Meeting – Austin, Tx Work Group Status Other outstanding issues involve the whether or not to allow range monograming for Standard Application centralizers? Work with programmers to zero in on optimal format to report centralizer curves for use as input to spacing programs. General formatting and document clean up and as we get closer to a final version the Color Coding exercise.
