  5. I. Wrongdoingsto die for • Israel grumbled about their hardships God’s anger burned. See Numbers 11:1-3. • Israel complained about the manna God’s anger burned. See Numbers 11:4-6. • Israel wanted meat God’s anger burned. See Numbers 11:31-33. • Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses  God’s anger burned. See Numbers 12:1-15.

  6. I. Wrongdoingsto die for • Israel’s leaders brought back a bad report from the Promised Land  God’s anger burned. See Numbers 13:25-33. • Because of Israel’s refusal to enter the Land, they were disciplined with 40 years of wandering. • A new generation led by Joshua and Caleb would take the Land.

  7. I. Wrongdoingsto die for • 40 years later, the new generation repeated the sins of their fathers. • They grumbled for a lack of water. • They grumbled for a lack of food God sent snakes. • They worshipped Baal God sent a plague.

  8. II. Words to live by • Moses led the Israelites for 40 years. His unchecked frustration resulted in God’s discipline. See Numbers 20:7-12. • Moses began his ministry worried about his inability to speak well. His last 3 sermons are recorded in Deuteronomy. • Knowing he would die soon, Moses had a heavy heart.

  9. II. Words to live by • His message is summarized: • There is only one God. He loved and redeemed you. Therefore, believe and obey. • Obediencewill result in prosperity in the Land. • Loving God results in obedience; obedience results in life. • Turning away from God results in disobedience; disobedience results in death. • The LORD is your life. Choose life!

  10. III. Applications & Implications • Learn from the Israelites. Don’t grumble, commit idolatry or immorality. • God provides for my needs. I should be thankful. • There are consequences for my choices. Choose wisely! • Sin leads to death, but Christ overcame death. I should trust Him.

  11. III. Applications & Implications • Moses’ last words were God-inspired. I should listen to them. • There are two choices, but only one leads to life. • I choose life when I believe and obeyGod. • Obedienceis an outward expression of faith.
