KEY IDEAS Professional Development - key to teacher quality, teacher retention, and student learning Professional Development - should include teacher voice, be site based, and incorporate mentored research experience Maldistribution of fully-prepared teachers & resources K-5 absence of science of math Public & polical support - need to restore interest & excitement in science & mathematics Student Learning - balance knowledge, skills, inquiry
