ICDS services – Initiatives from 2006 onwards • Number of new Anganwadi centers – 6875 • Regularisation of temporary hands with more than 6 months service • 393 Kudumbasree units established for the supply of THRS (Amritham food mix) • Wheat Based Nutrition Programme introduced during 2009-10 • Pre-school curriculum developed and training imparted to the functionaries • Health and Nutrition Day has been introduced. • WHO Growth Chart has been introduced.

ICDS services – Initiatives from 2006 onwards • Pension scheme for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers introduced- 500/- per worker and Rs. 300/- per helper • The honorarium of Anganwadi Worker increased from Rs. 1550/- to Rs.2050/- • Honorarium of Anganwadi Helpers increased from Rs. 1050/- to Rs.1350/-. • Cash awards to Anganwadi helpers, supervisors and CDPOs. • 1541 Anganwadi buildings constructed including 313 Tsunami Anganwadi centers.

ICDS services – Initiatives from 2006 onwards • 384 Anganwadi Centers upgraded as Community Resource Centers. • 2 sets of uniform sarees to Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi Helpers. • Psychosocial Services to 414 selected Schools by providing full time qualified women counselors • Coin operated sanitary napkin vending machine in 163 schools (pilot project)

JUVENILE JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION • Selection Committee constituted headed by a retired High Court Judge. • JJB and CWC have been constituted in all Districts. • A new Children' s Home for girls with a capacity of 100 inmates at Ernakulam, 27 posts created. • Diet scale revised with the recommendation of State Nutrition Board.

JUVENILE JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION • Colour dress introduced in all homes instead of uniform. • Sanction for the construction of ACH at Kollam and 1.20 crores has been allowed. • Activity oriented rehabilitation project with the help of UNODC and children' s theatre formed. • 254 children have been de-institutionalised for the last 4 years and 126 children were given higher studies through sponsorship. • Foster Care/Adoption from J.J. institutions have been introduced. 34 children have been home placed under this scheme

JUVENILE JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION • Hole-in-the wall Education in 9 Children' s Homes and 15 windows. • Missing Child Bureau started. • CHILDLINE service - State Government assisted • Special Training on Child Rights imparted to all SHOs and all Judicial Officers. • Career Guidance Programme in association with UNODC.

JUVENILE JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION • Conducted Juvenile fest, literary Camp, Excursion, Special Tuition and Sports and Art activities in all Children' s Homes. • Rehabilitation programme of ex-inmates of children' s Homes like Traffic Warden, Caregiver in RCC and other community organizations. • Integrated Child Protection Scheme '‘ launched.

  10. Rehabilitation of ex-convicts and probationers/Prisoners • One time assistance- Rs.10,000/- • Total no: of beneficiaries- 246 Educational Assistance to children of prisoners • Upto high school level - 500/month • Upto degree level - 1000/month • Total no: of beneficiaries- 300

  11. WOMEN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME New plan schemes • Women empowerment flagship programme started 2007 - 08. • Gender awareness programs started 2007 - 08. • Finishing school for women started 2007 - 08. • Gender advisory board started 2009 -08.

  13. WOMEN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME • Training to all stake holders • Appointment of Legal counselors - 80. • Mangalya (Widow marriage scheme) assistance Rs. 25,000/- per head. Total assistance 407 widows • Education assistance to children of women headed family. Assistance Rs. 250/- below SSLC and Rs. 500/- above SSLC. Total assistance given to 1125 beneficiaries. • Education assistance to the children of prisoners Rs. 500 below SSLC and Rs.1000/- above SSLC. Total assistance given to 404 beneficiaries.

  14. WOMEN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME • Supplementary nutrition to HIV/AIDS affected women and children. 1600 HIV patients provided nutrition aid • Rehabilitation of sex workers scheme. Number of beneficiaries 84. • Vocational training to the inmates of the women welfare institutions. Total training units – 22, number of beneficiaries 500.

WOMEN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME • Marriage assistance to the inmates of women welfare institutions. • Total assistance to 11 beneficiaries @Rs. 25,000/- • Total marriage conducted during last 3 years is 54 • Computer training through LBS. Training given to 67 beneficiaries and placement given to 20 numbers.

REACH Programs • Resource Enhancement Academy for Career Heights – REACH an initiative of Kerala State Women’s Development Corporation Ltd, is a pioneer professional grooming academy, one of its kind in the state and focus on the career aspiration of the women. • REACH – exclusively for women, where qualified women are equipped to achieve their career aspirations. • The institute is set up as per international standards with quality policies. • By analyzing the existing demands on the state, we offer regular courses for IELTS, Professional grooming for B Eds, Customer Care Executives and Office Assistants.

Care and Protection of Old Age and Senior Citizens • State Old Age Policy has been declared in 2006. • Maintenance and Welfare of parents and senior citizens Act 2007 implemented by notifying the rules in 2009. • Maintenance Tribunal constituted under Revenue Divisional Officer and Dist. Collector is the Appellate Authority. • Dist. Social Welfare Officer appointed as Maintenance Officer. • State and District Level Old Age Council constituted. • 7 NGO run institutions recognized as Care Home for the discharged destitute from Hospitals.

  23. Care and Protection of Old Age and Senior Citizens • Model Old Age Home at Pulayanarkotta. • Rs.4.65 crores for construction. • Maintenance charges for the inmates of institutions enhanced. • For food enhanced from Rs.450/- to Rs.750/- per head per month. • Medical expenses Rs.200/annum to more than Rs. 300 per inmate • for dress Rs.200/- to Rs.1000/- per year.

  25. Orphanages and other Charitable Homes • Annual income ceiling increased from 11000 to 20000 in rural area and to 22375 in urban area • Orphanage Control Board has been reconstituted. New H/A has been provided and 3 staff has been sanctioned for the Board. • Regulation has been modified to control illegal institution such as (a) Requirement of own building and land (b) Per inmate space 40 sq.ft. (c) No similar institution within 5 km. in Municipal/Corporation and 10 km. in Panchayath. (d) Renewal period reduced from 7 years to 4 years.

  26. Welfare of the differently abled • A new home for the mentally retarded women at Thrissur. • A new scheme for the care givers to bedridden disabled person has been introduced with a budget provision of 4.61 crores. • 3 Care Homes for the released inmates (destitutes) from Mental Health Centre. • A new scheme for marriage assistance to disabled girls and girls of disabled parents. 509 beneficiaries. • Self employment assistance to VTC trainees @ Rs.10,000/- per head. • Rs.6.15 crores sanctioned for construction and modification of different institutions for disabled and Rs.82.25 lakhs for providing additional care services through IMHANS.

  27. Welfare of the differently abled • Stipend to VTC trainees enhanced to 300 • Printing machine installed at VTC at Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. • New course on Mobile Phone repairing, computer courses and Fashion Designing started at VTC.
