  2. What Is 7 Days In May? • 7 Days In May is a movement that started in 2012 to raise awareness and funds to cure Pancreatic Cancer • Physical activity is key to preventing the onset of Pancreatic Cancer, so Cycling was chosen as the focal activity • 7 Days In May involves a 1 Day Event on May 3rd, 2014 in several cities across Canada and a 7 Day ride around Lake Ontario (May 3rd – 9th)

  3. Why Pancreatic Cancer? • Over 4300 new cases will be diagnosed in Canada this year • 75% of the patients will die in the first year following diagnosis • 95% of Pancreatic Cancer patients will die within 5 years • Pancreatic Cancer is the 10th most diagnosed form of cancer & the 4th leading cause of death • Because these statistics have not improved in 40 years • In 2012, less than 2% of general funding for cancer was targeted to Pancreatic Cancer • It’s time to change these statistics and give those diagnosed hope and a better a chance to live

  4. Results To Date • In 2012, over $17,000 was raised by over 400 donors and 50 Cyclists • In 2013, over $31,250 was raised by over 600 donors and 80 Cyclists • Rides were held in the GTA and Calgary • 5 Cyclists road around Lake Ontario in 2012; 9 did the full ride in 2013. The riders were followed by thousands of people on Facebook, Twitter, and Vimeo • Over 100,000 Twitter accounts were reached during the ride both years

  5. 2014 Objectives • Raise over $50,000 towards targeted Pancreatic Cancer Research • Encourage over 200 riders to participate nationally and over 100 riders in Toronto • Target 100 Toronto riders for the 25, 50, 75KM rides • Target 20 Calgary riders for the May 3rdevent • Target 10-15 Vancouver riders for inaugural event on May 3rd • Target 10-15 Ottawa riders for potential inaugural event on May 3rd • Enlist 20 riders or teams to complete the full trip around Lake Ontario • 30 Riders do full day rides from GTA to Cobourg • 20 Riders to ride the first weekend to Kingston • Introduce “active participation” for all 7 days through virtual activities and web tracked challenges • Leverage Strava & MapMyFitness / MapMyRide

  6. The 7 Days In May Foundation • The 7 Days In May Foundation was created in 2013 with a mission that is dedicated to finding a cure for Pancreatic Cancer • All funds raised will be directed to preventative and palliative medical research for Pancreatic Cancer • In 2014, we will be supporting the NCIC Clinical Trials Group in Kingston, ON who are conducting their 6th pancreatic cancer trial at sites across Canada. Funds will be directed through the Canadian Cancer Society, who have partnered with 7 Days In May to make this donation possible. • The NCIC Clinical Trials Group focused on “gastrointestinal” cancers – from esophageal to colon cancer. 7 Days In May will focus on Pancreatic Cancer, but the benefits will extend beyond just Pancreatic Cancer treatment • 100% of funds raised will go directly to the trial program • The 7 Days In May Foundation and our partners will cover any necessary administrative costs and fees
