    2. What is Exercise? Exercise is also known as physical activity and includes anything that gets you moving, such as walking, dancing, or working in the yard. You can earn the benefits of being physically active without going to a gym, playing sports, or using fancy equipment. When you're physically fit, you have the strength, flexibility, and endurance needed for your daily activities. Being physically active helps you feel better physically and mentally.

    3. The Benefits of Exercise: Development of stronger muscles and bones A leaner body (exercise helps control body fat) Less likely to become overweight Decrease the risk of developing type 2 diabetes Possibly lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol levels A better outlook on life!

    4. Exercise can be Fun! You can meet new people. Turn around that bad mood. Did you know that exercise dissolves stress? People Watching... stay current in the fashion trends by walking around the mall. Yes, you are still exercising. Exercise in the pool! Probably the easiest and most fun. Chances are you will forget that you are exercising at all.

    5. Stretching Stretching helps you achieve your maximum range of motion Stretching gives you better form and increased efficiency during your workout. It develops concentration and endurance as you learn to hold the different postures of stretching It also reduces the likelihood of injury and prevents fatigue and painful cramping.

    7. Types of Exercise: Aerobic Exercise- Aerobic exercise increases your heart rate, works your muscles, and raises your breathing rate. Strength Training- Strength training, done several times a week, helps build strong bones and muscles. With more muscle, you burn more calories, even at rest.

    8. More Types of exercise: Flexibility Exercises- Flexibility exercises, also called stretching, help keep your joints flexible and reduce your chances of injury. Gentle stretching for 5 to 10 minutes helps your body warm up and get ready for aerobic activities such as walking or swimming. Being Active Throughout The Day- In addition to formal exercise, there are many opportunities to be active throughout the day. Being active helps burns calories. The more you move around, the more energy you'll have.

    9. How often should you exercise? Talk to your doctor about how much exercise is right for you. A good goal for many people is to work up to exercising 4 to 6 times a week for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. Remember, though, that exercise has so many benefits that any amount of exercise is better than none.

    10. Make sure you keep proper posture when you exercise! Good posture entails distributing the force of gravity through our body so no one structure is overstressed.

Some Tips: These strategies can help you increase your activity level: Walk instead of driving whenever possible Take the stairs instead of the elevator Work in the garden, rake leaves, or do some housecleaning every day Dont Be lazy! Park at the far end of the shopping center lot and walk to the store

    15. Fun Facts: A pound of body fat stores 3500 calories. A person who does regular exercise becomes trimmer, lighter of foot and brighter of spirit. The best exercise should be moderate, enjoyable and refreshing, not too strenuous and unpleasant.
