  1. Using Lasers to Remove Stretch Marks

  2. Stretch marks are common and occur when the dermis or middle layer of the skin is stretched too far or too fast. This stretching breaks the elastin and collagen that make up the dermis, leaving behind visible marks. Weight gain, pregnancy, and growth spurts (usually caused by puberty) are the most common cause of stretch marks.

  3. Once there weren’t many effective ways to treat these marks, but today, lasers are the most effective and unique way to get rid of them. Lasers work by using pulses of fractional light to penetrate the dermis to stimulate collagen and retighten skin. In a few treatments, your skin could be clear and smooth again. However, there’s more to laser treatments than meets the eye.

  4. How Laser Treatment for Stretch Marks Work Laser treatments for stretch marks don’t last long, but they have lasting effects. These treatments are usually administered in a series of 20 sessions over a few weeks. Sessions take at least 20 to 30 minutes

  5. During the procedure, a laser machine for stretch marks, such as the Vivace Microneedle RF, shines an infrared light on the dermis to stimulate collagen production. Specifically, the microneedle uses sterile microscopic needles to penetrate deep into the skin.

  6. The light and penetration from these microneedles effectively tighten, strengthen, and improve the color of the skin. There’s no need for downtime between sessions, and the treatments are virtually painless.

  7. But you should feel some light stinging during the treatment and experience some mild swelling and redness for a few days. After a few weeks, there should be a 20 to 60 percent improvement in the stretch marks, and the effects are permanent.

  8. What to Do Before Treatment Before a laser procedure, whether it's for stretch marks or it's a different laser, like the Evo Series, you should have your skin, body, and medical history examined by a dermatologist. During the physical examination, the dermatologist will also explain the procedure, its risks, and the potential outcomes of the treatment. Thus, this doctor’s visit is essential.

  9. However, there are some other things you should do to prepare for your laser procedure, including: • Not using deodorants, perfumes, and other chemical-based cosmetic products, as they could cause skin irritation during and after the treatment

  10. Avoiding wax, chemical peels, sunbathing, collagen injections, and tanning beds at least two weeks before your first session • Not taking anti-inflammatories, aspirin, and herbal supplements at least a week before the procedure, as these drugs can increase the risk of bleeding

  11. Laser Treatment for Stretch Marks is Highly Beneficial Laser therapy is the most effective and truly the only treatment for stretch marks. In fact, it’s so effective that alternative treatments aren’t needed. And the effectiveness is matched by all the other benefits of the treatment. These benefits include:

  12. Laser light strengthens collagen and elastin and increases energy cells in the treatment area • Promotes new skin production • Improves immune and healing response, as well as blood circulation

  13. The procedure is relatively safe and painless, requiring little or no posttreatment pain management • Improves lymphatic drainage and reduces inflammation, thus reducing posttreatment swelling
