Did You Know?. Of the 350 or so shark species , about 80% grow to less than 1.6 m and are unable to hurt people or rarely encounter people. Only 32 species have been documented in attacks on humans, and an additional 36 species are considered potentially dangerous. Monday, March 9 th , 2015.

Write an essay discussing the following • The Japanese culture is portrayed very negatively; what reasonable explanation can you give for the behavior of the local Japanese people in the video? • How can any omnivore defend his/her carnivorous behavior when it causes the suffering of other creatures (i.e. killing cows, chickens, pigs, etc.)? • Which issue has a greater probability to make you act, pollution or dolphin killing? Please explain why one of these is more important to you.

What is due: • Annotations- highlight and write notes as you read • KWL chart- fill out what you “Know”, what you “Want” to know, and what you “Learn” • 8 Questions- pgs. 6-7 • Concept Map- key topics from the article to help frame your ideas for the letter • Letter- Write a letter to the editor explaining: What are the factors involved in the dolphin die-offs? What actions does society need to take on this issue, if any? Why or Why not?
