  1. The Giver Soundtrack By: Austin Pavelka Fifth Period

  2. “I Feel Bad”By: Rascal Flatts I chose this song because it fit the frightened, or scary intro to the book The Giver. I think the exact pages this should go on is from page 1 (paragraph 1) through page 2 (paragraph 6). This song would be best if only the first forty-five seconds were on the track with out the vocals; after that, it would repeat the first twenty seconds (without vocals) to resemble how the people it Jonas`s community calmed back down.

  3. Lyrics To “I Feel Bad” I should be out in that driveway stopping you Tears should be rolling down my cheek And I don't know why I'm not falling apart Like I usually do And how the thought of losing you's not killing me I feel bad That I can stand here strong Cold as stone, Seems so wrong I can't explain it Maybe it's just I've cried so much I'm tired and I'm numb Baby I hate it I feel bad that I don't feel bad I can let myself be angry over wasted time And sad about just throwing love away Yeah I almost wish my heart was breaking But I cant lie All I want to do is turn the page I feel Bad

  4. That I can stand here strong Cold as stone, Seems so wrong I can't explain it Maybe it's just I've cried so much I'm tired and I'm numb Baby I hate it I feel bad That I don't feel bitter, alone I just feel its time, its time to move on I just gotta move on and on and on and on Yeah Baby it's just I've cried so much I'm tired and I'm numb baby I hate it I feel bad that I don't feel bad No, I don't feel bad

  5. “Just the Way You Are”By: Bruno Mars This song has an obvious mood of joyful, loving, and happy. This is perfect for where Jonas starts to fall for Fiona. I think music in a movie should never have the lyrics to a song unless it really calls for them, like in musicals. So, I would not use lyrics to this song either.

  6. Lyrics to “Just the Way You Are” Her eyes, her eyes make the stars look like they're not shining Her hair, her hair falls perfectly without her trying She's so beautiful And I tell her everyday I know, I know When I compliment her she won't believe me And it's so, it's so Sad to think that she don't see what I see But every time she asks me "Do I look okay?" I say

  7. When I see your face There's not a thing that I would change 'Cause you're amazing Just the way you are And when you smile The whole world stops and stares for a while 'Cause girl you're amazing Just the way you are Her lips, her lips I could kiss them all day if she'd let me Her laugh, her laugh she hates but I think it's so sexy She's so beautiful And I tell her everyday Oh you know, you know, you know I'd never ask you to change If perfect's what you're searching for Then just stay the same So don't even bother asking if you look okay 'Cause you know I'll say

  8. When I see your face There's not a thing that I would change 'Cause you're amazing Just the way you are And when you smile The whole world stops and stares for a while 'Cause girl you're amazing Just the way you are The way you are The way you are Girl you're amazing Just the way you are When I see your face There's not a thing that I would change Cause you're amazing Just the way you are And when you smile The whole world stops and stares for awhile Cause girl you're amazing Just the way you are

  9. “I Gotta Feeling”By: The Black Eyed Peas This song would be perfect for a little before Jonas is starting to celebrate the “Ceremony of Twelve, ” this is around the end of chapter seven. I kind of think that the lyrics might actually be okay for this part of the book. This is a good song for this part of The Giverbecause here Jonas is determined, joyous, and excited, with a hint of fright to being brought upon stage like so.

  10. Lyrics to “I Gotta Feeling” I gotta feeling... That tonight's gonna be a good night That tonight's gonna be a good night That tonight's gonna be a good, good night I gotta feeling... That tonight's gonna be a good night That tonight's gonna be a good night That tonight's gonna be a good, good night I gotta feeling... woohoo That tonight's gonna be a good night That tonight's gonna be a good night That tonight's gonna be a good, good night I gotta feeling... woohoo That tonight's gonna be a good night That tonight's gonna be a good night That tonight's gonna be a good, good night

Woohoo

  15. “Just A Dream”By: Carrie Underwood This song should be right after part where Jonas is skipped by the Chief Elder. This part has a sense of anger, and embarrassment. This song fits here because of the darkening tone in the guitar and background piano. This song, if put into a movie, should only have the music and not the lyrics.

  16. Lyrics to “Just A Dream” It was two weeks after the day she turned eighteen All dressed in white Going to the church that night She had his box of letters in the passenger seat Sixpence in a shoe, something borrowed, something blue And when the church doors opened up wide She put her veil down Trying to hide the tears Oh she just couldn't believe it She heard trumpets from the military band And the flowers fell out of her hand

  17. Baby why'd you leave me Why'd you have to go? I was counting on forever, now I'll never know I can't even breathe It's like I'm looking from a distance Standing in the background Everybody's saying, he's not coming home now This can't be happening to me This is just a dream The preacher man said let us bow our heads and pray Lord please lift his soul, and heal this hurt Then the congregation all stood up and sang the saddest song that she ever heard Then they handed her a folded up flag And she held on to all she had left of him Oh, and what could have been And then the guns rang one last shot And it felt like a bullet in her heart

  18. “Crazy Dreams”By: Carrie Underwood This is a energetic song that would set the mood for Jonas`s excitement for finding out what colors are exactly. The pages this would range from would be from the beginning of chapter twelve to the end.

  19. Lyrics to “Crazy Dreams” Hello you long shots You dark horse runners Hairbrush singers, dashboard drummers Hello you wild magnolias Just waiting to bloom There's a little bit of all that inside of me and you Thank God even crazy dreams come true I stood at the bottom of some walls I thought I couldn't climb I felt like Cinderella at the ball just running out of time So I know how it feels to be afraid Think that it's all gonna slip away Hold on, hold on

  20. Here's to you free souls, you firefly chasers Tree climbers, porch swingers, air guitar players Here's to you fearless dancers, shaking walls in your bedrooms There's a lot of wonder left inside of me and you Thank God even crazy dreams come true Never let a bad day be enough To go and talk you in to giving up Sometimes everybody feels like you Oh, feels like you, just like you Yeah I've met some go-getters Some difference makers Small town heroes, and big chance takers I've met some young hearts with something to prove Oh, yeah

  21. Here's to you long shots You dark horse runners Hairbrush singers, and dashboard drummers Here's to you wild magnolias Just waiting to bloom There's a little bit of all that inside of me and you Thank God even crazy dreams come true Thank God even crazy dreams come true Yeah

  22. “Bad to the Bone”By: George Thorogood This should to resemble how Jonas first feels pain and warfare. This is not really the best song you could pick, there are/would be better ones. Songs with a slower beat, and darker tone. This song has a good title, but it a little is too energetic.

  23. “Bad to the Bone” Lyrics On the day I was born, the nurses all gathered 'round And they gazed in wide wonder, at the joy they had found The head nurse spoke up, and she said leave this one alone She could tell right away, that I was bad to the bone Bad to the bone Bad to the bone B-B-B-B-Bad to the bone B-B-B-B-Bad B-B-B-B-Bad Bad to the bone

  24. I broke a thousand hearts, before I met you I'll break a thousand more baby, before I am through I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone I'm here to tell ya honey, that I'm bad to the bone Bad to the bone B-B-B-Bad B-B-B-Bad B-B-B-Bad Bad to the bone I make a rich woman beg, I'll make a good woman steal I'll make an old woman blush, and make a young woman squeal I wanna be yours pretty baby, yours and yours alone I'm here to tell ya honey, that I'm bad to the bone B-B-B-B-Bad B-B-B-B-Bad B-B-B-B-Bad Bad to the bone

  25. “If Today Was Your Last Day”By: Nickelback This song is completely perfect for the subject “Release”, that Jonas figures what happens exactly and how cruel it is. The lyrics in this are acceptable, because of what they talk about. Jonas finds out what “Release” is around the eighteenth chapter of “The Giver”.

  26. Lyrics to “If Today Was Your Last Day” My best friend gave me the best advice He said each day's a gift and not a given right Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind And try to take the path less traveled by That first step you take is the longest stride If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Would you live each moment like your last? Leave old pictures in the past Donate every dime you have? If today was your last day Against the grain should be a way of life What's worth the prize is always worth the fight Every second counts 'cause there's no second try So live like you'll never live it twice Don't take the free ride in your own life

  27. If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Would you live each moment like your last? Leave old pictures in the past Donate every dime you have? Would you call old friends you never see? Reminisce old memories Would you forgive your enemies? Would you find that one you're dreamin' of? Swear up and down to God above That you finally fall in love If today was your last day If today was your last day Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart? You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars Regardless of who you are So do whatever it takes 'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life Let nothin' stand in your way Cause the hands of time are never on your side If today was your last day And tomorrow was too late Could you say goodbye to yesterday?

  28. Would you live each moment like your last? Leave old pictures in the past Donate every dime you have? Would you call old friends you never see? Reminisce old memories Would you forgive your enemies? Would you find that one you're dreamin' of? Swear up and down to God above That you finally fall in love If today was your last day

  29. “Hotel California”By: the Eagles This is one of my favorite songs by the way. This song is perfect for Jonas as he is a fugitive running away from his community with Gabriel. This song also has this story. As Jonas runs away, the book has eerie feel to it. So it perfectly fits with this song.

  30. Lyrics to “Hotel California” On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air Up ahead in the distance, I saw shimmering light My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim I had to stop for the night There she stood in the doorway; I heard the mission bell And I was thinking to myself, 'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell' Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way There were voices down the corridor, I thought I heard them say... Welcome to the Hotel California Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place) Such a lovely face Plenty of room at the Hotel California Any time of year (Any time of year) You can find it here Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes Benz She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat. Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

  31. So I called up the Captain, 'Please bring me my wine' He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine' And still those voices are calling from far away, Wake you up in the middle of the night Just to hear them say... Welcome to the Hotel California Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place) Such a lovely face They livin' it up at the Hotel California What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise) Bring your alibis Mirrors on the ceiling, The pink champagne on ice And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device' And in the master's chambers, They gathered for the feast They stab it with their steely knives, But they just can't kill the beast Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before 'Relax,' said the night man, 'We are programmed to receive. You can check-out any time you like, But you can never leave!'

  32. “We Run”By: Sugarland This is for the ending where they finally make it out of the community to the “Elsewhere”. This song shows how hard it was to finally get out of the community.

  33. “We Run” Lyrics Snake oil and roses. Pockets of dirt. Hands of a fortune teller's son Young love shaking the earth, like a heart shot out of a gun. Lips like gravity pull me under. Reckless weather on his breath. Smells like rain, it hits like thunder. A storm is coming, I got nothing left. So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run. Come undone like a string on a sweater, that you pull but you know better, But doing what you shouldn't half the fun. So we run.

  34. Fire and laughter. Fence posts flying. Feel the fever in the air. Can't remember what came before him, and what comes after I don't care. Hands are tremblin'. I Swore I wouldn't. One more look and I'll give in. Hundred reasons why I shouldn't. But I lost my heart and wanted him to win. So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run. Come undone like a string on a sweater, old enough and should know better But doin' what you shouldn't half the fun. So we fun. Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah I hear the lever on his voice. It's a calling not a choice, And I can't keep myself from following the sound. Yeah you may never know, how fast that you can go, Till someone lifts your feet up off the ground. So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run. Come undone... Yeah Yeah Yeah, undone. So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run. So we run... Yeah Yeah Yeah, we run. Yeah. [x25] Nah Nah Nah Nah
