  4. The Varsity is about people. Georgia Natives Old In between International Tourists Young From pin collectors to Olympians … wearing fur coats or blue jeans … the Varsity has become a universal, international attraction!

  5. Established in 1928, the Varsity now evokes a sense of nostalgia in the hearts and minds of elder patrons. Assistant General Manager Terry Brookshire commented that at the Varsity, “It is not just the food, it is the nostalgia, history, and atmosphere.” Recalling early, personal experiences at the Varsity, Rosalyn Williams Smith asserts: “As a teenager, the Varsity was the place to see and be seen. It was the only ‘fast food’ restaurant around.”

  6. This tradition carries on; you will often see younger generation families now sharing chili dogs and frosted oranges … … creating a brand-new legacy for their children to hold.

  7. The legacy continues ...

  8. The Varsity has achieved landmark status attracting more than just the locals . . . Many athletes and movie stars have proudly added their faces to the Varsity’s pictorial Hall of Fame

  9. Erby Walker, Varsity employee since 1952, remembers how Elvis Presley sent people to the Varsity 3 - 4 times a day for chili steaks. Heavyweight champ Evander Holyfield has more recently visited the Varsity, consuming six chili dogs in one sitting!!

  10. The Varsity has maintained its significant role in urban Atlanta because of its foundational roots

  11. Founder and father-figure, Frank Gordy, ensured a successful and efficient work environment by instituting Christian principles and developing a sense of family among his employees.

  12. Even today, managers tend to place their own needs last—striving instead to accommodate the needs of their customers and hard-working employees. Over the years, the various owners of the Varsity have been seen working the floor, relating directly to their customers and employees—ensuring quality, and exemplifying Mr. Gordy’s belief in hands-on experience.

  13. The sense of family and positive spirit embodied within the Varsity community has enticed workers such as Erby Walker to stay almost 5 decades.

  14. The Varsity is not simply a restaurant… … it is a diverse, multi-cultural center in Atlanta that will continue to unite people from all walks of life.

  15. Come catch the Varsity fever at one of five locations … Gwinnett Downtown Town Center Varsity Jr. Athens
