  5. Describe an accomplishment you had to struggle to achieve. Include what it was, how you tackled it, and how it change you. • Describe a significant experience, achievement, or risk that you have taken and its impact on you. Add these to your list of prompts

  12. Application Essay Prewriting Topic:Discuss an accomplishment (read and fully understand the prompt) List 4 events/specific examples you will use in this essay. 1. Working full-time so I had to take night classes 2. Pregnant with my daughter Abby – exhausted after working all day – plus I had a 6 year-old son at home. 3. Took one year to write my Capstone project – 95 pages in length and I read 8 books for research. 4. Up at 5:00 a.m. on Saturdays to read, research and write so I would have time for my family. When can you use the 5 senses and show, don’t tell? 1. Driving mini-van, parking lot, reclining, pregnant lady sleeping 2. 5:00 a.m. quiet house, everyone sleeping, in my chair with coffee reading and lap top writing 3. Feeling with the 95 page book in my hands, meeting with advisors and their positive comments about my work. 4. My one year old daughter standing near me as I typed and me saying, “Next year when mommy’s done with this paper, we will move to a new house.”

If this sounds like you, then please share your story. • Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what lessons did you learn? • Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again? • Describe a place or environment where you are perfectly content. What do you do or experience there, and why is it meaningful to you? • Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family. • Describe an accomplishment you had to struggle to achieve.
