La imagen de la Virgen de Guadalupe apareci el da 12 de diciembre de 1531, en el transcurso de la maana.. Qued estampada en el ayate de Juan Diego que contena las flores que por mandato de la Virgen haba cortado en la cima del Tepeyac y que Ella misma tom en sus manos y las puso en la tilma..
