  2. CONTENTS • INTRODUCTION • WHAT IS WIBREE? • WHY WIBREE? • ARCHITECTURE OF WIBREE. • IMPLEMENTATIONS • WIBREE Vs BLUETOOH • WIBREE Vs ZIGBEE. • FUTURE VIEW OF WIBREE. • APPLICATIONS • ADVANTAGES • CONCLUSION • REFERENCES

  3. INTRODUCTION • Now a days the wireless technologies are more in use and are widely evolving. • Some of the technologies now in use are Wi-Fi, Wi-max, Zigbee, Bluetooth……. Out of which Bluetooth is most popular. • These technologies are widely used to connect the large devices like mobile phones or personal computers. • No other existing wireless technologies will connect with small button cell battery devices so effectively. • So the Nokia introduced the new radio technology called Wibree.

  4. WHAT IS WIBREE? • New radio technology for ultra low power applications • Wibree is a new radio technology developed by Nokia. • It consumes only a fraction of the power compared to other such radio technologies, enabling smaller and less costly implementations and it is easy to integrate with Bluetooth solutions.

  5. WHY WIBREE? • We have already seen the ranges and power consumptions of different technologies. The human mind never stops its journey to find something new. • Using Bluetooth, the watch would drain a lot of power doing nothing, but using Wibree (and shutting off Bluetooth), battery life could be greatly increased.

  6. WIBREEARCHITECTURE:

  7. WIBREE IMPLEMENTATIONS • Wibree stand-alone chip • Wibree-Bluetooth dual-mode chip • Wibree stand-alone chip: • The Wibree stand-alone chip is designed for use with applications which require extremely low power consumption, small size, low cost and where only small quantities of data are transferred. • It's an ideal solution for small devices (like heart-rate monitors) that use only short data messages and must have long battery life.

  8. Wibree-Bluetooth dual-mode chip: • The Bluetooth-Wibree dual-mode chip is designed for use in Bluetooth devices. • In this type of implementation, Wibree functionality can be integrated with Bluetooth for a minor incremental cost by utilizing key Bluetooth components and the existing Bluetooth RF.

  9. COMPARISSION WITH OTHER TECHNOLIGIES

  10. WIBREE Vs BLUETOOTH • Wibree and Bluetooth are complementary technologies. While Bluetooth is well-suited for streaming and data-intensive applications such as file transfer. • Wibree is designed for applications where less power consumption, small size and low cost are the critical requirements. Bluetooth for communication

  11. WIBREE Vs ZIGBEE: • ZigBee is a short-range radio technology aimed at applications with low data rates such as industrial controls, home automation and other monitoring and control operations. • Wibree, which is more oriented towards small, low power consumer products such as mobile phones, watches, and input devices, such as mouse and keyboards, as well as toys. Applications of Zigbee.

  12. APPLICATIONS

  13. FUTURE VIEW OF WIBREE:

  14. ADVANTAGES • Ultra-low power consumption. • Long battery life. • Small chip size. • 10 times more energy efficient than Bluetooth. • Inexpensive implementation . • Easily integrated with Bluetooth solutions.

  15. CONCLUSION • Taking all the above factors together, it is understood that wibree has the potential to transform consumer devices. • It will solve the technology and monitoring issues that are currently hindering the adoption of wireless health care services and enable a whole new generation life style, monitoring and safety products. • Wibree will enable C2M-"consumer to Machine" or "Consumer to Middleware" applications.
