SolarShare Despite the relative youth of the renewable energy sector, and solar in particular, the SolarShare team’s combined experience spans decades, with a strong focus on community energy, having overseen large portfolios of both ground-mount and rooftop solar. SolarShare’s mission is to help Irish homeowners on their journey to zero-carbon living. Ireland is one of the worst performers in the EU on per-capita carbon emissions and Irish homeowner’s account for 30% of the national total energy-related emissions. The goals set to meet climate objectives by 2030 and beyond can only be achieved if homeowner’s get on board in large numbers. Technology and legislation are evolving that will allow communities to come together to generate and share their own clean electricity. Known as a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), a community of homeowners can join together and collectively share in the ownership of a clean energy producing resource.
