Objectives of the Association • A forum for information sharing and exchange among those working in health economics and related fields  • Promote the development of health economics and policy capacity within Nigeria • Promote the production and dissemination of high quality health economics and policy research findings 

  4. Obj contd. • Promote the appropriate use of health economics tools for evidence-based decision making  • Support health policy development and advice to policy makers and health partners in Nigeria • Represent the interests of Nigerian health economists and health policy analysts in regional and international forums (such as HEPNet, WAHEN, AfHEA and iHEA).

  5. Current Membership 56 Members Drawn from • Federal Ministry of Health, State Ministries of Health • The academia • Development partners, International organizations in the country- WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, PATHS, FHI • Private sector • Diaspora

  6. Activities so far • Had 2 national conferences (hosted by HPRG): • 17-18 September 2009 in Enugu (inaugural) • 12 -16 September 2010 in Abuja • Input into the implementation modalities of the PHC financing aspect of the National Health bill • Capacity development in Health Policy Analysis and National Health Accounts • Hosting the African Journal of Health Economics

  7. Future outlook • Secure a permanent office in Abuja • Membership drive • eNewsletter publication • Capacity development workshops • Publish the first edition of the African Journal of Health Economics • Continuous policy advice to government
