  3. NDO NDO – Helena Russo • Started, taking over from Becca Gallagher, on the 29th February 2016. • Been involved in netball all my life, including the UNO role at university, and club coach roles. SUCCESSES AND CHALLENGES SO FAR • SUCCESSES • Developing Coaching bursaries in line with the County’s aims • 2 successful Netball Now sessions launched in Huddersfield and Bradford • Back to Netball festival due for July 2016 and pre-season Senior Open due for September 2016 • Coach and Volunteer Event due for August 2016 • CHALLENGES • Re-establishing key partner bonds across the County • Picking up and continuing to support the projects left for me • Recruitment of volunteers • Increasing Back to Netball provision

NDO – What has been happening? • Working on and supporting the set up process of three potential new satellite clubs • New UNO starting at Leeds Trinity University in September 2016, and have had interest from Bradford University also • Taken on head coach role at the upcoming 11-16 years Netball Youth Camp in York in July • Attended meetings with both the Huddersfield NL and WY Junior NL in order to support their progression and attend to any requests • Wrote and finalised the WYCNA Coaching Bursaries – hoping for these to be released and awarded on a regular basis • Supported the WY Summer Year 7 School Games at Leeds Beckett and will be again at the Winter Games. Also supported the Bradford Summer High-5 School Games. • Worked in conjunction with Sport Development Officers to help progress the Leeds Forum Plan to improve netball provision across the County

  5. Performance All delivered by: - Coaches - Admin - Screening - Support - Umpiring - Selecting - Summer training days - Parent evenings - Play days And more!! BIG THANKS TO ALL VOLUNTEERS England Netball Pathway Over 50% of athletes from WY 2 days screening selected 114 from 240 athletes 30 weeks + play days 21 weeks + play days

  7. Performance Challenges 2016/17 • Less funding • Moved to Bradford College, (WMSC closure) • Volunteers to support development • Club access for juniors Please contact Jeanette Pitts if you can offer any time to support. There are many areas where support will be much appreciated

  9. Schools National Schools (held on Brighton) • U14s GSAL and Woodhouse Grove • U16s GSAL • U19s GSAL & Greenhead College Congratulations to all but particularly GSAL who were placed first in both the U16 and U19 competitions

Umpiring Successes: • 4 C Award passes • 5 B Award passes • Developed and delivered mentoring workshop for B award umpires • Established a network of B award mentor umpires to support learner umpires • Delivered rules forums Challenges: • Conversion ratio of C award course attendees achieving full qualification still too low • Lack of A / B Assessors umpires

Coaching • For some time now the committee have been trying to figure out what coaches require and how best we can build on the number of coaches that we currently have. • We carried out a survey which delivered a good response. This has given us the information which we need, in order to plan for the future of West Yorkshire netball. • The county have realised that there is a need for a bursary system and have identified an amount of money which can be used for successful applicants. • Due to the need for more level 2 UKCC coaches in WY., applications will be made available to anyone who is interested and is prepared to volunteer some time to community netball.

  12. Coaching • The first round will be ready for September 2016 • The total level 1 UKCC, from February 2015 to March 16 is 21 • The total level 2 UKCC, from February 2015 to March 16 is 14 • There are no new level 3s for that period, however we have 2 people training.

  13. Coaching Successes: • Set up Survey Monkey • Set up coaching bursary • Run some introduction to coaching courses • Amend email addresses Challenges: • Increase number of coaches • Areas for coaching development • How can we link coaches to teams / clubs • Find out what coaches would like

Junior League Congratulations to all Winners Results on website • Increase to 66 teams in 4 age groups • U16s - 22 teams • U14s - 24 teams • U12s - 11 teams • High 5 - 9 teams • Congratulations to the 4 teams who went forward to the Regional League (and to Nationals) • Leeds Athletic 1 (U16) • Wakefield Wildcats 1 (U16) • Leeds Athletic 1 (U14) • Huddersfield Giants 1 (U14) Huge thanks to ALL who make the League successful.

Junior League – Challenges 15/16 • Playing Venues not spread evenly across the district • Behaviour of players and parents towards umpires • Some clubs not paying fees on time • Not making best use of the website to promote the league • Unwillingness of some Team Mangers to step in and umpire

Junior League – Plans for 16/17 • Supporting clubs to develop young leaders/ youth umpires • Identification of more playing venues across the district • Better promotion of the Junior League via website • Encouraging new clubs to join the league • Supporting the NDO with the development of new clubs • Continuing to support the development of H5 and increasing numbers in the H5 league.

  17. Communication & Marketing Digital • Website - maintain content, advertise courses and news • Website - pop up message on home page AGM • Presentation and loading of papers to the website Survey Monkey • Use of survey monkey to create coaching survey

Officers’ reports League Secretary • One of the largest, most respected leagues in North of England • Congratulations to ALL – players, managers, umpires and spectators • Not too many rearrangements or additional costs incurred so surplus cash for the year hence • No entry fee to 2016/17 league for teams who participated in 2015/16 season • Thanks to Pat Dembickjy, Rebecca Murdoch and Sharon Grimshaw for service as Results Secretaries.

  28. Proposed Rule Amendments • c) If the League finds it necessary to cancel or alter the venue for one or more of the matches at an approved venue, it will ensure that any remaining teams at the original venue are able to obtain an umpire. If a match is cancelled due to circumstances beyond the League’s control, the rearranged date will be mutually acceptable to both teams. • However, should neither team agree, the committee will stipulate a date, time and venue on which the match MUST take place. • .

  32. Proposed Rule Amendments 7b) Monies returned as ‘unpaid’ cheques will be deemed as non-payment of fees and therefore this will result in no points, or “goals for” being awarded for the match.   35. Proposed Rule Amendments 21. Any team or individual who wishes to submit a complaint against any other team or individual, must do so in writing to any 2 current committee members within fourteen days of the alleged incident, clearly stating that it is to be treated as an official complaint. Add If the committee deem the matter to be of a disciplinary nature then the matter will be referred direct to the county disciplinary secretary.

  36. Proposed New Rules If a club has more than one team in the same division, the team with the lowest allocated team number is deemed to be the highest positioned team irrelevant of the team name. Example:- Portland Sports A = Team No 39 Portland Sports B = Team No 33 Portland Sports B will be deemed to be the highest positioned team Once any amendments have been made, renumbering will automatically take place to ensure correct “running” order.

  37. Proposed New Rules Any team or individual who wishes to submit an appeal against an infringement penalty or committee decision, must do so in writing to any 2 current committee members within 14 days of receipt of the committee decision. Once any amendments have been made, renumbering will automatically take place to ensure correct “running” order.
