C424 Features/Benefits • Downloads funding opportunities directly from Grants.gov • Provides autofill and data reuse capability • Automatically tracks errors and warnings • Electronic routing • Easy navigation between forms • Stores proposal documents and attachments • Tracks proposal submission status

  4. Mozilla Firefox Firefox is the recommended browser for Cayuse 424 with any operating system. • Has the fastest load & response times • We currently support versions 3.0 through 16 • Download Firefox at Mozilla.org

  5. Apple Safari & Google Chrome Safari and Chrome are not supported at this time due to significant browser bugs. (We are keeping watch on these browsers, but for now we recommend using Firefox, especially if you are a Mac user.)

  6. Step 1- Log into Cayuse424

  7. Signing in to Cayuse424 • To sign in to Cayuse424: • Type in gsu.cayuse424.com(no www. required) • Enter your GSU Campus ID and password • Click Sign In

  8. Tabbed Navigation • Opportunities tab • Browse downloaded opportunities • Download new opportunities • Create new proposals from downloaded opportunities • Proposals tab • Create/edit a grant proposal • Create/edit a subaward proposal • Import a subaward proposal

  11. Step 2 – Verify Professional Profile

  12. Verifying a Professional Profile • Click the People tab • Type in your name in the text box • Click Search

  13. Verifying a Professional Profile • Click through your profile areas and confirm the information listed is correct.

  14. Creating a Professional Profile • Click the [ ] icon

  15. Creating a Professional Profile • Enter First and Last Name • Click the Create New Profile button

  16. Creating an Institutional Association • Click the located next to Institutional Associations within the Professional Profile

  17. Creating an Institutional Association • Select the Institution using the drop-down menu • Select an Institutional nickname (optional) • Click the Create Institutional Association button

  18. Completing the Professional Profile • Complete the following fields by clicking on the associated hyperlinks: • Name • Degrees • Demographics • Contact Information • eRA Role • Dept/Division/Title

  19. Attaching Biosketches • To upload a Biosketch to the Professional Profile click Biosketches • Click • Type in a name for the Biosketch and click Next

  20. Attaching Biosketches • Click Browse to locate PDF version of Biosketch you’ve previously created • Click Next • Repeat Step 3 to attach Source (Word) version of Biosketch (optional) • Click Done

  21. The Attached Biosketch • Multiple Biosketches can be created and stored in each Professional Profile • Once Biosketches are attached to the Professional Profile they can be easily attached to the proposal on the Senior/Key Persons page

  22. eRA Roles • Selecting a person’s appropriate role helps to display their name for certain proposal fields.

  23. eRA Roles • Principal Investigator: Shows this person’s name as an option when selecting a PI. • Assistant fields are available for sorting but are not used within applications. • Administrative Official: Displays name for face page field - Person to be Contacted In Matters Involving this Application. • Signing Official / “AOR”: The default list for Field 19: Authorized Representative • Payee: Displays the “Payee” for Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposals.

  24. Step 3 – Find an Opportunity

The Opportunity • An opportunity is a grant application package that is downloaded, completed and routed for review prior to submitting to Grants.gov • New proposals can be built once the Opportunity (i.e. FOA) has been downloaded into Cayuse424 • Before you start to build your proposal you need to determine if the opportunity you are applying for has already been downloaded • You do this by reviewing the Opportunity List

  26. Reviewing the Opportunity List • Click the Opportunities Tab • Cayuse424 displays a list of opportunities already downloaded

  27. Icons • Icons perform key tasks • Hover your cursor over an icon to determine its function • Click the icon and Cayuse424 will respond with prompts, forms changes, etc. to support performance of the activity

  28. The Opportunity List • Filter the list using the Keyword Filter • Sort the list by clicking any of the column headings • Click the Info Button for Opportunity Details

  29. Finding Opportunities • To retrieve an opportunity from Grants.gov you must know the Opportunity Number or CFDA# • You can obtain the Funding Opportunity number by going to www.grants.gov and using the Find Grant Opportunities link

  30. How to Download an Opportunity 1. Click the Opportunities tab 2. Click the Retrieve Opportunities button 3. Enter the Opportunity Number or CFDA # into the respective fields 4. Click Retrieve Opportunities

  31. Using Opportunities • Simply select the opportunity using the green plus symbol.

  32. Step 4 - Create Your Proposal

  34. Internal Proposal Title • Per OSP guidelines, all proposals in Cayuse must adhere to the following naming convention: • “PI Last Name-Funding Agency Acronym-Mechanism-Proposal Due Date(MM/DD/YYYY)”, (i.e.  Greenway- DOJ-R01-09/30/2013).

Navigating the Proposal – SF424 RR • All forms are listed in the navigation bar on the left side of the screen • The checkboxes control which forms are submitted electronically to the agency • Mandatory forms are automatically checked and cannot be unchecked • Optional forms can be checked to include in the proposal submission (e.g. Detailed vs. Modular Budget pages) • The page numbers are links to form pages

  36. Navigating the Proposal The Proposal Management areas have special icons to manage your proposal: • Upper right corner • Lower left corner

  37. Autofill Function • Some information can be auto-filled from the Professional Profile. Click

  38. Authorized Representative • Select ‘Ken Packman’ as the Authorized Official Representative (AOR)

  39. Step 5 – Grant Proposal Permissions

  40. Adding Permissions • To grant permission(s) to other Cayuse424 users click the Proposal Permissions icon: • Click Add User/Group • Enter a First name, Last name or User name • Select the user from your search results • Click on their record to add them • Click Close

  41. Adding Permissions Once the user is added, check or uncheck specific permission(s) as needed: Default OSPA recommends the grants administration person for your unit have all the default permissions plus ‘Change permissions’ and ‘Add User/Group’.

  44. Step 6 – Forms & Attachments

  45. Complete All Forms • Complete necessary forms (e.g. Key Persons) • Click or to Add Key Persons

  46. Attachment Checklist • All required attachments, per the Funding Opportunity Announcement, should be un-encrypted PDFs

  47. Attaching Documents • Go to the appropriate page on the form set (e.g. Key Persons page) • Locate attachment point (e.g. Current & Pending Support) • Click Add Attachment

  48. Attaching Documents • The Upload Attachment window enables you to attach the PDF and the source (Word) files • It is a good practice to upload both versions. Should the document require editing at a later time the source file is easily found by anyone working on the proposal • Click Browse

  49. Attaching Documents • Locate the PDF version of the file you wish to attach • Click Open • Repeat for source file
