The East Campus was redesignated as the Health Sciences Campus to reflect what it already is: Home to the largest concentration of health science-related entities in the Capital Region And where it is headed: The University at Albany’s East Campus will be New York State Capital Region’s premier location for health-related collaborations – a place where academia, government and the private sector intersect in mutually beneficial ways to further our understanding of health and disease.

In the 1980s, David Axelrod M.D., then the New York State Health Commissioner, collaborated with then-University at Albany President Vincent O’Leary to establish the School of Public Health. 2015 marked the 30th anniversary of the School and its unique collaboration with the New York State Department of Health. The School attracts students from all over the world to prepare them for leadership roles in the field of public health, both abroad and in the United States. School Origins
Based on a 30-year formal collaboration with the New York State Department of Health. 44 University paid faculty. Additional faculty members from the New York State Department of Health and Albany Medical College. 490 graduate students enrolled in MS, MPH, Ph.D., and Dr.PH degree programs.
