  1. Wireless Security and Enterprise When you want the best Partner Webinar –February 2019

  2. About Broad Sky Networks

  3. Agenda • Welcome & Introductions • Broad Sky Networks Overview & Background • Gold Standard Wireless Discussion • Discussion / Q & A Session

  4. Wireless: Was and Is TODAY Wireless Is: Fast, Business Grade, an accepted industry solution “Let’s look at an LTE connection” is now as commonly proposed as DSL, T-1, or MPLS. WAS: Slow Expensive impractical overpromised and under delivered Broad Sky ships between 150-200 routers a month, every month. $79.95-$1,995 MRC attached to each router. Wireless is the New Black!

  5. Wireless in Security-focused Industries Publicly Traded Bank: 250 sites Credit Union: 75 Sites Security concerns in Banking, Retail, and Oil & Gas Industries are stringent.Broad Sky works with Chief Security Officers of Multi-site Enterprises to install wireless solutions in these industries: BANKING OIL & GAS RETAIL Retail: 750 sites Retail: 33 Sites Retail: 657 sites Retail: 52 sites Retail: 113 sites Retail Advertising: 113 sites Oil and Gas: 137 sites Oil and Gas: 57 sites

  6. Is Wireless Secure? You can intercept a Wireless Signal in the air and pull the data out of it You can’t run VPN tunnels over Wireless Misconceptions of Wireless Internet • Wireless isn’t HIPAA Compliant • Wireless isn’t FINRA Compliant • Wireless isn’t PCI Compliant None of these are true!

  7. Is Wireless Secure? Can you intercept a Wireless Signal in the air and pull the data out of it? No A wireless SIM card is authenticated by the carrier before each transmission of data using the following method: Access request from SIM Sim sends Authentication Key Tower requests Authentication Key Tower verifies AK, accepts connect request Tower encrypts data from SIM card using 256 bit encryption Data then enters ATT/TMOB/VZN network as encryptions as any other internet traffic

  8. Is Wireless Secure? DO VPN tunnels don’t work over Wireless? They do. Broad Sky supports up to 24 simultaneous VPN tunnels from one location with our most advanced and powerful routers. TOP 3 Reasons the idea of no VPN over wireless came about: • 3G latency did not support VPN tunneling • Cheap Wireless modems and USB sticks do not support IPsec VPN • Inexperienced support staff are not able to adjust MTU header sizes on the data stream to support varying manufacturers specific IPsec VPN requirements.

  9. Is Wireless Secure? PCI ( Credit Card) HIPAA (Federal Medical Records) FINRA (Federal Financial Institution Regulations) Without delving into the intricacies and details around these 3 regulatory sets…..Broad Sky has thousands of Bank locations, Medical Facilities, and Credit Card processing machines using our service daily, right now. Thousands. There are no regulatory issues.

  10. Is Wireless More Secure? Oddly….Yes in certain instances. AirGapped Networks is the concept of having a completely separate internet circuit to carry certain traffic. Target’s security breach was from their HVAC contractor! Since then, Enterprise customers have recognized that a separated (AirGapped) wireless circuit independent of the LAN can NOT be a vector for an inbound attack. It’s not behind the Firewall….it’s separate. Companies who operate within Enterprise and Publicly traded corporations increasingly must “bring their own internet” to comply.

  11. Gold Standard: LTE-A : Broadcast Side • LTE-A is a Verizon Term. Carrier Aggregation is the actual Industry term but it manages to be boring and misleading at the same time. • It’s Channel Bonding for Wireless. Multiple Frequencies are now being broadcast from the same cell tower. Up to 13 available paths. • Each is a separate channel for internet download.

  12. Carrier Aggregation: Receive Side • Wireless modem/router must have CAT6 chipset installed to pick up additional frequencies • Routers manufactured before Q4 2016 will not have this chipset • Routers continue to be manufactured utilizing the CAT4/CAT3/CAT1 chipset (cheaper and slower) • Broad Sky ONLY deploys CAT6 chipset modems for customers (as of1/1/2017) • CAT6 chipset routers are future-proofed and will detect Bonded LTE signal as it becomes available

  13. Multi-Site Profile • Pooled GB plan regardless of underlying Carrier • Dual sim deployment at each location • Single pane of glass management of all devices • Flexibility on GB data pool size • Reporting of data usage across all carriers.

  14. Multi Carrier-One Solution • No One Carrier has the best signal strength and Bonded LTE everywhere • Multiple Carriers are required to achieve best overall performance • Dual Sim deployment ensures best chance of peak signal strength • Managing multiple carrier contracts, weak signal environments, multiple data pools is the hidden cost of DIY deployment

  15. The Gold Standard includes ALL of: Realworld Data security experience Cat6 Router Ethernet Handoff Paddle Antennaes Dual Sim Load PoE power Signal Strength Metrics in real time Per site underlying carrier qualification NO SPRINT/Cricket/or any other MVNO External Antennae available Directional Antennae available

  16. Case Study Broadband at onsite client offices - General Mills, Toyota, International Paper, etc. TEMPORARY STAFFING AGENCY Largest in the US 400 offices - nationwide Connectivity Requirements Challenge Broad Sky Solution Bring your own Broadband AirGapped Supplier Client's local IT department would not allow access to the LAN Frequest access issues interrupted project.

  17. Case Study MULTI-SITE GROCERY CHAIN - MN 33 Sites Connectivity Requirements Broad Sky Solution Long-term Customer Value Connectivity Failover for Point-of-Sale Customer since 2015 Recently signed additional 3-year term Initial deployment: 21 sites; added 11 more over time Failover Wireless at each location. 7 site store acquisition ran on Broad Sky for 45 days while new services were installed. $4,700 Is the average cost per minute of POS downtime Cradlepoint & Retail Customer Experience
