CSC Digi/RecHit Validation Calibrations & Crosstalk
Effects Fetched From Calibrations • Gains • Pedestal • Pedestal Width • Correlated Noise • Crosstalk Rick Wilkinson
Crosstalk • CSC strips have capacitance • Crosstalk behaves like a differentiator circuit • 5-10% effect • proportional to slope Rick Wilkinson
RecHit r-df Resolution • RMS resolution, in mm • CSCRecHit : doesn’t use calibrations • CSCRecHitB: uses calibrations • Crosstalk can double or triple resolution • Even though it’s a 5-10% effect! • Pulls the fit towards the second-highest strip Rick Wilkinson
Conclusions • Validation done for Digis & RecHits under 140 and 150pre3, with and without calibrations database • Crosstalk has a surprisingly big effect on resolution • Even though it’s not a random effect! • Need to study • How to simulate it • How accurate and stable calibrations are • How to best correct for it in reconstruction Rick Wilkinson
