  2. Why Create a Website? • Share assignments and files • Student and parent home access • Announcements • Classroom information

  3. Sites.google.com • Log in with your Google account

  4. Sites.google.com • Create a new site

  5. Sites.google.com • Choose the Blank template

  6. Sites.google.com • Name your site This will be your site’s address

  7. Sites.google.com • Choose a theme

  8. Sites.google.com • Enter code and click Create site

  9. Create Page Use this to create a new page on your site.

  10. More Actions • Use More Actions to access general site information and options.

  11. Edit Page • Use this to make changes to the page you’re viewing.

  12. Editing a Page • When you’re in page edit mode, you’ll see the editing menu bar and tool bar

  13. Editing a Page • The toolbar has standard commands such as: bold, underline, insert link and alignment.

  14. Insert Menu • Standard options: • Image: Add a picture (Upload or from the web) • Link: Insert a hyperlink • Horizontal Line: To divide page sections

  15. Insert Menu • Insert Google products: • Will automatically show a list of anything associated with your account (Example: Clicking Document will show a list of all Google Docs in your account.

  16. Insert Menu • Video • Insert a Google or YouTube video.

  17. Format Menu • Advanced formatting options • Headings • Strikethrough • Subscript

  18. Table Menu • Insert a table on your page to organize data

  19. Layout Menu • Change the page layout

  20. Navigation • Site will automatically put every page on the navigation bar and alphabetize. • Navigation can also be customized.

  21. Navigation • Click • Edit sidebar

  22. Navigation • In the Navigation box, click Edit

  23. Navigation • To customize, uncheck • Automatically organize my navigation

  24. Navigation • Add pages from your site by clicking Add page • Reorder pages with • Add a link to another site by clicking Add URL

  25. Navigation • Further organize a large number of pages by creating multiple navigation menus in the sidebar • Each appears as a separate box and each has a title that can be customized.

  26. Navigation • To add a navigation box, click Add sidebar item • Select Navigation

  27. Design • To change design and other options, • click More actions. Next, click Manage site.

  28. Design • Site Layout • General display options • Colors and fonts • Customize the look of text • Themes • Customize the overall look of your site. Use a pre-made template or create your own theme.
